Description
A travel system is a stroller and a car seat that click together; getting your whole travel system as one purchase ensures they’ll click together easily with no need to buy an adapter. This jogger from Graco is a crossover between a traditional stroller and an all-terrain jogger. Jogging strollers are big, durable, three-wheel strollers with suspension to absorb shock from all kinds of terrain. They’re too big and heavy for small trunks and narrow store aisles, but they’re great for rough terrain or long-distance jogging. The front wheel can be set to swivel (for easy turning) or to lock (for stability over long stretches). It’s got Graco’s hallmark one-second, one-hand fold.
The big rubber tires are wonderful when you’re pushing the stroller over bumps, but the downside is you have to keep them filled and patch them if they get punctured. They come on and off fairly easily if you’re trying to make the stroller more compact. The seat has different recline positions for your baby, but it doesn’t recline all the way flat. So for newborns who can’t hold up their head, you don’t want to use this stroller without the infant car seat. It has a TON of storage space: you can tuck an enormous diaper bag in there no problem. The handle area has an adjustable phone port, but sadly it’s not big enough to fit larger phones.
The size and weight are the biggest downsides: car owners should definitely measure their trunk to make sure it will fit. At 30 pounds, it’s on the heavy side, too. Some people get this travel system plus a lighter Graco stroller because the same Graco car seat will click into multiple strollers. The Click Connect system is pretty easy overall, but sometimes when you’re taking it out it gets a little sticky and you have to try clicking a couple times.
The Graco Snugride car seat itself has a lot of advantages; it’s one of the lightest car seats around at 7.5 pounds, and its sides are lined with energy absorbing foam to manage collision forces. It can be a little award to install the base in your car, but it’s easy to buckle into a friend’s car or a taxicab without the base, of course. It’s got an infant insert and retractable canopy that come with it.
