Description

Swaddling can be introduced as soon as baby is born. Not everyone can swaddle as well as a Labor+Delivery nurse, so having multiple styles on hand for when parents return home is key. This allows parents to see which type of swaddle works best in real life before stocking up. The swaddles arrive in a gift-ready box.

Swaddling is great for a few reasons:

  • It prevents the newborn startle reflex from waking baby up
  • The womb-like wrap comforts and calms
  • Keeps baby warm without loose blankets, which are a sleep hazard for babies

Our Swaddle Box includes four of the bestselling, most-loved options out there. The swaddles all have a few things in common: they’re soft and breathable, hip-healthy and select styles allow for diaper changes without removing the whole swaddle.

Here are the four styles:

ergoPouch Cocoon Swaddle Bag 1.0 TOG

The Cocoon Swaddle Bag is firm enough to restrict the startle reflex, while still allowing stretch and movement. Handy arm poppers transition the Cocoon from an arms-in swaddle to arms-out sleeping bag when baby is showing signs of rolling. Soft organic cotton is certified non-toxic, dyed with water-based dyes and gentle on skin prone to eczema. The 1.0 TOG rating is ideal for room temperatures 70-75°F without the need for additional blankets.

Love to Dream Swaddle UP Original

Swaddle UP has the distinction of being a zip-up swaddle that allows your baby to sleep with their arms up. This natural position gives your baby access to their hands for self-soothing (baby can suck on their fingers right through the fabric), while the fabric “wings” protect little faces from fingernail scratches.

Halo Cotton SleepSack Swaddle

Super versatile, the Halo SleepSack Swaddle can be worn three ways to adjust to your little one’s sleep style: arms-in to reduce startle reflex, hands-to-face for self-soothing and one or two arms-out as a gentle transition for when it’s time to stop swaddling.

aden + anais Essentials Cotton Muslin Swaddle

aden + anais is designed for classic swaddling (i.e. no zippers or Velcro). This option can take a little practice to get the hang of, but it has a few upsides: the blanket creates a snug and stretchy swaddle, you only have to buy one size and it doubles as a nursing cover, burp cloth, tummy-time blanket and more. They’re also known for beautiful prints and fabrics that get softer with every wash.

What we love about it

A giftable grouping of four popular swaddles that lets new parents try out different styles to find the right fit.

Poor quality
Terrible quality. The fabric is scratchy, but the worst are the seams: extremely poorly sewn, super scratchy and stiff. The tags are not easily detached, you have to cut them off, and you can’t cut the whole piece, otherwise you’ll ruin the seam, and they are situated inside, so you’ll end up having pieces of tags sewn inside. Just very cheaply done, poor quality overall.

Too small for my newborn
Could only use 2 of the swaddles off the bat (aden and halo). The love to dream only goes up to 8.5 lbs and my baby was born over that. Way too expensive to not be able to use the other two at all. Wish the sizing was one size up.

Best newborn gift!
This is such a great gift! As a first time mom and last of friends and family to get pregnant, I’ve gotten so many recs and all different. The take away was I couldn’t predict what type of swaddle my baby would prefer. We swaddled in the hospital and at home the first few nights. After a few days she was breaking out of the swaddle. We ended up using a few different options to find what she preferred before we stocked up. Swaddles are so pricey so this was so helpful to have to find the perfect option! We all got more sleep because baby was comfy. Definitely recommended and an essential newborn gift!

Great to try multiple kinds
Really glad I tried this. If the ergopouch and swaddle up weren't so expensive, I probably would have bought a bunch of those in multiple sizes. I wound up buying more of the Halo. The swaddle up is fantastic and easy if your baby likes theirs arms up.

Obsessed! Such a Great Deal!
I cannot say enough good things about this set! It comes with a variety of swaddles, and I’m absolutely obsessed. The quality is amazing, and the selection gives you everything you need to keep your little one cozy. I especially love the Halo Sleep Sack—it’s a total game-changer.

Poor quality
The halo swaddle that comes in this box is absolute garbage. We have other halo swaddles and they are great but this one is not. The zipper is the most frustrating zipper I have ever encountered. It will zip but has to be lined up exactly. It’s the worst thing in the middle of the night trying to zip that up. The fabric is also not good. It’s more stretchy and baby can just bust out of it. Just buy halo swaddles and done get this. I have not yet tried the other swaddles. She will transition to those soon. Hopefully they are better quality. I would just register for the actual swaddles individually and not get this box.

Absolutely Love
Absolutely love this box! Our baby doesn’t like his arms being swaddled up so we got two solid options that he loves - the Ergopouch and Halo. Having an extra cotton muslin swaddle on hand is always great. Never used the SwaddleUp but the quality is great. I definitely recommend for parents to have options of swaddles on hand to determine which will work best for them and baby.

Definitely recommend
Definitely recommend for anyone unsure about which swaddle they want to use. This helped me find our go to favorite swaddle (ergopouch) which I ended up buying more of.

2/4 were too small for my baby
I like the idea of having sample swaddles but 2 out of 4 were too small for my almost 10 lb baby. I don’t think this is a good value for how expensive this box was and is ending up only using two of them. We LOVED the Halo swaddle and ended up buying 2 more of those in the next size up because he outgrew the newborn one very quickly. We used the aden + anais swaddle a lot, which was nice (big enough) and lightweight. Overall they were nice quality swaddles, but wish they offered the box in different sizes. Maybe ranging it by weight. It would have been great to have the Halo swaddle in the small size off the bat.

Liked the idea, wish had different sizes
I liked the idea of a few swaddles in a gift box, but hadn't looked at any of the reviews about the newborn sizing. I wish as a gift box it was maybe 2 newborn and one size up or vice versa. They are cute! I think the swaddle with hands up looks very small and I'm sure my baby will size out of that pretty quick.
