10 Cult-Favorite Baby Products That Parents Swear By

Every few years, a handful of baby products hit the market and make a huge impact on the way we care for our babies, gaining a cult-like following along the way. But what qualifies a product to be considered a cult favorite, especially in a world where new things are being introduced every year? As someone who’s been a parent for over a decade, I’ve seen certain baby products ascend to the level of cult-like love. These products are typically the ones shared between parents, new and experienced, and seem to pop up continuously when you go searching for suggestions and recommendations.

With a mix of newer, innovative products that created an otherwise uncharted category (like the SNOO and the Doona) in baby products and mainstays that have been parent favorites for a decade (like the Baby Shusher and the NoseFrida), this curated list may help you discover a new favorite (or game-changer) for your baby. And if you’re still building out your Babylist registry, most of these products are some of the most registered-for items. Now, let’s get into the list.

Mom’s Shhh On Repeat

It’s been proven that the sound of a mother’s shush soothes a fussy baby in a way other sounds simply can’t match. But, instead of shushing until you’re out of breath, this handy little portable sound machine recreates that soothing sound using the sound of a real person saying “shhh” for increments of 15 or 30 minutes—and parents absolutely swear by it. One Babylist parent said, “it was magic,” adding that it “helped tremendously with calming our son down at night, especially in the first three weeks.”

Mess-Free Diaper Changes

Diaper creams and ointments have a thick, tacky-like texture to keep moisture from settling on your baby’s skin, which is great. The problem is applying the creams with your fingers a few times a day can leave behind an unsavory residue that’s a real pain to try to get off. This simple but useful tool allows you to slather on diaper cream without making a mess. Parents and caregivers are obsessed with its simplicity and how easy it is to use, with one Babylist parent naming it in our best baby products survey as one of the baby products that became an unexpected favorite saying it’s ”so great not having to diaper cream all over my hands.”

Magical Stain Fighter

When your baby is ready to enter the world of real food, the stains are inevitable. This seemingly basic product works through some of the most clothes-ruining stains like magic. With a growing fanbase, I don’t know many parents of young children who don’t have a few bottles of this stuff on hand. One Babylist parent said, “This has saved so many sleep sacks, outfits, socks, and burp clothes from ruin. It gets stains completely out even if they have been sitting a while.” I couldn’t agree more; my daughter’s diet is 50 percent berries, and most of her shirts have evidence of red and blue dribble. After spraying a few squirts of this stain remover, the stains completely vanished—like magic.

Baby Sleep Whisperer

Created by one of the forefathers of getting your baby to sleep through the night, Dr. Harvey Karp, the Snoo is only 8 years old but has totally upended the way parents think about bassinets and infant sleep. Dr. Karp already had a cult-like following thanks to his 2002 hit book The Happiest Baby on the Block, so it’s no surprise that the Snoo took off almost immediately. The tech-forward bassinet responds to your baby’s cries and movements to rock and soothe them back to sleep. A Babylist parent and Snoo fan said “Anything that gives us an extra even ten minutes of sleep is a blessing and this does way more than that.” It’s so popular that the brand offers a rental option and the ability to purchase a used Snoo at a discounted rate.

Poop-Inducing Bouncer

When I was building my Babylist registry two years ago, I went down a few baby product rabbit holes and ran into the Babybjörn bouncer no less than 100 times. Since then, I’ve seen this bouncer recommended and praised countless times, with many claiming that it even helps their babies poop. When we surveyed Babylist parents, 30 percent of them pointed to this one as their favorite. One parent said, “It is pricey but we have used it EVERY day since we brought our daughter home 9 months ago. We love having a safe and secure place to put her (especially in the mornings when we are getting ready for the day). I recommend this product to every new mom I come across. Definitely worth the investment.”

Cool Mom Carrier

Effortlessly cool and stylish, Artipoppe baby carriers speak to the aesthetic hearts of modern parents (and celebrities). While it’s an investment, therefore not a product you’ll see every parent in your neighborhood sporting, I’ve yet to hear a single person utter a negative word about their Artipoppe carrier (other than the higher price point). When we surveyed Babylist users, they noted the carrier is comfortable for both parent and baby, plus it’s super easy to use and adjust for the perfect fit for both parents. One parent said, “I literally use this every single day. It has amazing support so it doesn’t hurt my back like the 4 other brands I’ve tried throughout all of our kids. And the baby loves being in it.”

Baby Soft Skin (In a Bottle)

Like many newborns, my daughter had a bout of baby acne. When I went on a hunt to find something to soothe the irritation, Tubby Todd was suggested almost exclusively. The All Over Ointment is the product that the brand became known for, and as a parent who used it and still loves it, I can attest that the fandom is for good reason. The cream is thick but not so much that you can’t apply it easily. It’s nourishing without leaving a greasy film and it doesn’t irritate my daughter’s skin.

Breathable Mattress

A crib mattress might not seem like the most exciting thing to register for or purchase for your baby, but Newton’s unique construction has gained it a serious following. The entire mattress is washable (which I assure you will come in handy) and the inner core is made of 90 percent air and 10 percent food-grade polymer. While that doesn’t scream comfort, we use this crib mattress and it feels firm for safe sleep, but the quilted cover gives it a tiny bump in softness, which is nice. And yes, you can breathe right through it.

All-in-One Travel System

There have been times when I’d be in a crowded space and see no less than 10 Doona strollers within a couple of hours. Super popular, the Doona hops between being a car seat and a stroller in seconds, which was a first when it hit the market. While other brands may offer similar construction, the Doona was the first and really gained a loyal fanbase. When we asked Babylist parents to name their favorite baby product, one parent pointed to the Doona, saying, “The durability and versatility of this one product made our lives so much easier and efficient!

Snotty Nose Eliminator

Arguably one of their premiere products, the NoseFrida helped create Frida Baby enthusiasts (myself included). Twelve years ago, when I had my first child, the solution to clearing a baby’s stuffy nose was to use your mouth—I shudder at the thought. The NoseFrida solved a common issue while cutting out the grossness at the same time. Now with a bunch of useful products and other branches of their brand like FridaMom, their cult-following just continues to grow.
