Never had a dud. Love this mirror.
After seeing so many reviews saying that the lights don't work, I'm writing this to help someone else. I've bought FIVE of these mirrors at different times over the last 2.5 years and the lights work on ALL of them. It should be noted that there is an extra on/off switch on the BACK of the mirror and it comes in the off position. It is the same color as the mirror so I understand how it might get missed. (I'm not sure why it needs an extra switch as you can turn the lights on and off with the side buttons on the front of the mirror.) Also, the remote, like all remotes, must be pointed directly at the sensor to work. I usually just turn on the light when I put my children in their car seats. There's a "white" light and then there is a setting for colored lights. My kids really like watching the colors change, although it's not distracting enough for a really fussy baby. When researching car mirrors, this was the highest quality one that I found that included a light to view the baby at night. Also, as another reviewer said, I like that my children can also see me, which would not be the case with a backseat camera.

Lights don’t work
Lights doesn’t work and apparently is common. I wanted the lights but even after changing batteries for both mirror and remote still doesn’t work, very disappointing.

Lights don’t work out of the box
Out of the box put brand new batteries in and the light will not turn on. Even tried different batteries. This thing is a dud! Awesome and I threw away the box so can’t return it. Piece of junk.

NON-FUNCTIONAL
TERRIBLE PRODUCT!!! Do not buy. I received my mirror and it did not work. I reached out to the company and after sending multiple videos proving the mirror was not working, they sent another mirror. It also does not work. They will not give me a refund as I bought the item through baby list. My brother is experiencing the EXACT same defects and also fighting with the company.

The light doesn't work. Tried different sets of batteries. Seems like this is a pattern. What a pain.
