This monitor has a Direct Connection mode which allows the baby monitor parent unit and baby unit to connect to each other without the app or Wi-Fi connection. You'll need Wifi to use the monitor on-the-go though.
The power cord for the camera is 6 feet long.
The camera is not battery-operated and does require the cord to be plugged into a power source to function. The parent unit can be charged and run off of battery power without a cord.
