Rove Convertible Car Seat

We received the UPPAbaby Rove Car Seat as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. We absolutely LOVE IT. As a household that requires we move our car seats to other cars for childcare, ease of installation is huge for us, and this product did not disappoint! The Rove is lightweight, easy to manage, and easy to install. The red-to-green indicators ensure that we have a perfect install every time, even for family members who are less experienced. The seat is FAA approved for flying, and we plan to use this seat the next time we travel. We love that this car seat is rear racing up to 50 lbs, as we plan to rear face as long as possible. The sleek design is timeless (we prefer black fabric), and the material is soft and comfortable. Our son seems very comfortable in the seat (falls asleep often, isn’t asking to get out of his seat, etc). Easy to clean is also a must for us, and this seat also delivers on that with the fabric being machine washable. We’re super thrilled with this seat and plan to use it for years to come as our child grows!

The Rove car seat is beautiful and luxurious. Immediately upon unboxing you can tell the materials are high quality, as they are soft and supportive for the my baby when he is in the chair. Being flame retardant free is one of my highest priorities in looking for a car seat, and this material meets that criteria plus it’s washable, which is literally like the dream. While the blue color is really nice, I usually prefer dark colors to hide stains better. The seat was easy to install in our car (I have a VW Tiguan mid size SUV), and felt secure once we clicked it into place. The installation process was easy once we got the seat in place. The Smart Secure feature green color indicator is reassuring we did it right. Moreover, the seat is also lightweight and not too bulky. Once installed, we still had plenty of legroom. Though we don’t really plan on it, if we needed to move it between cars it would not be too bad and I would feel good about the installation. My box was missing is a cup holder, and the company sent it to me, which is amazing customer service. My car seat was provided by the Stellar product testing panel.

Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was able to test out the UPPAbaby Rove Car Seat. It not only is sleek and perfectly padded, it is also so easy to install and has 5 recline position to make sure your child is absolutely comfortable and even better they are safe with the side impact protection. My son usually doesn't like long car rides but this car seat actually made it to where he didn't mind them! I absolutely loved how it has red-to-green tension indicators make it simple to confirm a secure installation. It made the installation so much faster than your average car seat and it was honestly one of my favorite features and it made it so easy to remove from one car to another if needed! Including some photos from when I first got it out of the box below.

This car seat's best feature is just how easy it is to install with peace of mind. There is not only a recline level indicator, but also a tension indicator that turns green when the belt is tight enough. The instructions are all easy to follow. Overall, the seat itself is nice and feels like it is well made. It's super easy to adjust the height of the seat, there's just a pull lever at the top. My son outgrew the rear-facing limits of his previous car seat but since rear-facing is the safest position, I wanted to keep him in it as long as possible. The UppaBaby Rove is perfect for that—it allows him to stay rear-facing up to 50lbs and 49" tall. The installation was a breeze, the seat is lightweight and the instructions were clear. My favorite feature is the SmartSecure System—it's so reassuring to see the indicator turn from red to green when the seat is properly installed. The seat is really well-designed, with a plush, luxurious feel that I’m sure makes my son more comfortable than his old one. I’m so happy with this car seat and I’m looking forward to using it for years to come! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this car seat.

I really liked this car seat. My baby is 18 months old and she seems comfortable in it. The fabric and cushioning felt extremely luxe and felt great, although, it attracts dog hair fairly well. I’ve used this car seat on 3 different cars (Ford Fiesta, Mach-E, and Tesla) and this was the easiest car seat install that I had to do. It was definitely fit a little too snug on my Ford Fiesta, but it still fits. The tension indicators come in handy when I transferred to a different car so I was at ease that the car seat is secured properly. The zipper to fasten the latch belt was also zipped seamlessly. The only downside to this is the “lightweight” claim. I just went on a 4 hour flight thinking I’d be able to lug it around the airport and use it in the airplane, but no, this car seat is very heavy and big. I ended up having to check it in because it was impossible for me to carry it around the airport while we wait for our flight. You will need a car seat backpack or roller bag to carry this thing around cause it is not light (at least for me) at all. We are going on a 4 hour and 10 hour road trip next week and will test out the 5 recline positions and see how my baby likes it. Overall, a great car seat but definitely not lightweight. I received this item as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel but the opinion stated below are my own experience using this car seat.
This car seat was so much easier to install in my car compared to other car seats that we have used because of the shape. My car is a small hatchback so the more streamlined design allowed me to have more room in the front seat of the car. It was lighter weight and easier to fit in a variety of other vehicles for this reason. I didn’t like the way the cup is added on the side of the seat because it takes up unnecessary space on the side but when he is in the car alone it doesn’t matter much.
The cushioning was very plush and allowed for my child to be very comfortable. This was the most comfortable he doesn’t complain when I put him in the car seat and material has been easy to clean when he makes a mess. Compared to other seats my son seems to enjoy being able to look out the window for a better view and he likes the fit in the car better so he isn’t begging me to let him out as soon as I strap him in. The head rest fits much better and the ability to grow with the seat matches better than our other convertible seat.
Installation of the seat quick and the red to green tension indicator made me much more confident that the seat was secure between vehicles. The hooks that attach to the back seat were easier to clip on the backseats. The seatbelts on this seat are also super easy to adjust and there are side slots that will hold the seat belts open while you put the child in the seat. That was one of my favorite features, especially when you have a younger infant or toddler to put in the seat and I don’t have to dig them out from under my child.
Overall I’m extremely pleased with this car seat and I’ll be looking to get a 2nd one for baby #2 in the future because the functions and comfortability have made our car rides much more peaceful.

I was given the Uppababy Rove car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel, and have been using it for a couple of weeks now. I thought it was a really high quality seat and was thoughtfully designed. I have a smaller backseat in my VW Tiguan and I had no problem installing this car seat and had plenty of leg room. I especially love the SmartSecure installation that turns from red to green and assures you it is snugly installed. It is very quick and easy to move into different vehicles. The fabric is soft and smooth and is easy to clean. I’ve washed it once and the cover is simple to remove. I am very happy with this seat and would recommend it to all my friends!

I was given this car seat as part of the Stellar Product testing panel and instantly fell in love. (Yes, as a mom of 2, car seats are something I have a deep love for). I am currently using this seat for my 4 year old daughter who rides forward facing.

Aesthetically, the seat was just beautiful, very sleek with great quality fabrics. I tested it out with my daughter before even installing it and she said it was so comfortable that she wanted one in both cars, she loved it! It has a very comfortable amount of padding and the strap positioning around her hips was perfect. For appearance and comfort it exceeds 5 stars!

Now for the installation. The seat is very light making it easy for me to do by myself. The base fit perfect in my small suv and the forward facing installation was just brilliantly easy - there is a small flap you lift for the belt and once everything is locked into place it turns green to let you know you did it correctly! I absolutely love this feature as it gives me such assurance that I installed it correctly and my child is safe. The seat height adjusts easily and the harness tightens effortlessly.

I honestly love this seat, it’s a high quality that I trust with my children. I found it easier to install than other car seats I have used, and I really just love the green button that appears so you know it’s installed tight enough. The harness is smooth and easy to adjust. All of the safety features are just above and beyond. And as an added feature I love that the seat cover zips on and off (instead of all the buttons and clips). This helps it just fit like a glove and makes for easier on and off for cleaning. It also has very few openings for all the toddler crumbs to fall in, also making it easier to clean.

This car seat is incredible and truly stands up to the high quality that UppaBaby stands for. I just wish it was available when my kids were 1 year old as this is a seat I would have trusted them to go from infant to big kid.

We use the UPPAbaby Rove car seat for our 2 year old, who is approximately 31 lb and 35” tall. We were excited to receive this Rove convertible car seat from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and were able to test it in both our Audi A4 AllRoad (wagon sedan) and our Ford F150. We also own another similar car seat from an UPPAbaby competitor (one considered to be top of the line in the USA and also ~$150 more expensive than the Rove) and in comparison, it is my opinion that the UPPAbaby Rove comes very close, but falls a little short from being my first choice. I would definitely recommend it for this price point. Arrived well packed and with very clear easy instructions. My 2-yr-old is very comfortable in the Rove, during long and short trips, and loves to see out the window better, as it sits a bit higher up. It’s easy to buckle up, once you make sure the shoulder pads don’t get in the way of a tight fit, and it is marketed to have all the modern safety features. The high quality fabric feels luxurious and is certified non-toxic, which is a non-negotiable for me. The bubble position indicator is easy to see and read, the non-rethread straps and headrest positions are perfect - overall a beautiful, comfy, and safe car seat that we will happily use for years to come.
**WHERE IT WINS: 1) Great quality and features for the price; both are luxe seats, but the Rove is significantly less costly; 2) Game-changing zipper on the seat pad, which stops crumbs/toys from falling into the seat and allows for easy accident clean-up (FYKYK!) this is a big win!!! 3) Almost 3 lb lighter; 4) Higher seating for my child means she can see out the window better; 5) The Rove is pretty narrow from side to side so it doesn’t take additional space in the adjacent seat.
**WHERE IT LOSES: 1) The tether-strap that’s recommended for also rear-facing! This is a big booo for me. I can’t tell what it does to increase safety, as when I wiggle the seat there’s not much difference with or without tether, plus it’s in the way and frankly pretty ugly. Plus I don’t like how my daughter can put her foot on it and, when installed in the F150, how she can push on the hook or the folded extra material: because in a truck the child restraint tether hook is on top of the seat (under the headrest vs behind the seat back) the installation of this tether strap is not ideal. 2) Installation was harder than I expected, so not a seat that I’d want to move all the time: while I love the tension indicator with red-to-green visual confirmation, it took a few tries and some sweat to get it to green and then it felt like it was always on the edge of turning red if I wiggled the car seat, so I was a little paranoid it would turn red while we were on the road - I don’t think it did. In the F150 I couldn't get a super secure install with the seat belt, the carseat would wiggle too much even after a green indicator, so we used the LATCH system and it felt firmer but not as firm as the competitor car seat feels; and even the LATCH was pretty hard to tighten enough. In the Audi A4 we used the seatbelt install without the tether strap and it felt safe enough (but not recommended). 3) The Rove takes a little too much space front to back in the Audi A4, so I had to move the passenger seat forward a little more than we had to with the competitor car seat, but not as much as we had to do with the infant seat, so not a dealbreaker; 4) while being slightly lighter than other luxe seats, the Rove at 25.2 lb is easy to get in/out of the car, but still on the heavy side for travel, so I wouldn’t consider it a “travel car seat” to carry onboard a plane; however they sell a great wheeled travel case at a reasonable price (half of the cost of the competition) and with those wheels it might be easier to gate-check it without it incurring damage, in fact I might buy it myself and try this in a month. 5) We aren’t able to take advantage of a lot of the recline positions either because of space limitations and/or due to the bubble indicator then moving outside the required position.
Still, considering the pros and cons and the price, the Rove car seat is a great value and I would buy it as a second seat and recommend it to a friend.
