Overview

Description

The Tripp Trapp Chair made its debut in 1972 and has been going strong ever since (Stokke calls it a “chair for life” for a reason). Devotees love the iconic Scandinavian design that’s highly functional and looks great with your grown-up décor.

This ingenious chair brings your baby right up to the table to join the family meal, or you can use the removable Tray. The intelligent, adjustable design has both depth-and height-adjustable seat and footplates for comfortable and ergonomic seating position at any age. The footplate effectively brings the floor up to your child, allowing for greater balance, comfort and freedom of movement.

The Tripp Trapp High Chair Complete also comes with a cozy Cushion and Baby Set featuring a five-point harness and extended gliders to provide support and stability for babies starting at six months. To use the Tripp Trapp from birth, you can add a Newborn Set (sold separately).

Norwegian manufacturer Stokke makes the chairs from high-quality wood with an attention to craftsmanship (this one is beech wood). The Tripp Trapp is a sturdy piece of furniture—it holds up to 300 lbs—and it’s hard for a child to tip, even for toddlers who are climbing in and out of the chair on their own.

The Glacier w/Glacier Green Cushion/White Tray combination is exclusive to Babylist, so you’ll only find it here.

Does the Baby Set included in the complete set come in white or natural for "Oak Natural/Nordic Blue Cushion/White Tray"?

The baby set included in the Complete doesn't come in white or natural for the "Oak Natural/Nordic Blue Cushion/White Tray" configuration. It's not possible to customize the bundles right now.

Is this eligible for the completion discount?

It is! This chair is currently eligible for the Babylist completion discount.

Is the Oak Natural actually made of oak wood? The description says beech wood for each of these chairs but I read the natural and oak finished chairs are supposed to be made of oak wood.

The Oak Natural option is made of oak wood.

In the Oak Natural set with nordic blue cushion - in the photos the cushions look more grey than blue (which I like.) How blue are they in reality?

The Nordic Blue is between slate blue and grey. If you reach out to Stokke directly, they may be able to share a close up photo of the fabric so you can inspect it more closely.

Can the Oak Natural color (set with cushions) get ordered (paired) with the nordic grey cushions and how?

These sets are not customizable. If you want the Oak Natural chair with the Nordic Grey cushions, you'll need to purchase them separately.

Why is the oak chair $50 more? Is it actually made of oak instead of the beech wood? Thanks!?

The Oak chair is made of oak instead of beech wood.

Which cushion comes with the "Complete" set - the Baby Cushion or the Classic Cushion?

This listing comes with the Classic Cushion.

Does this set come with the newborn seat?

This does not come with the Stokke Tripp Trapp Newborn Set as that is sold separately.

Are the straps removable and washable?

The straps are removable and are advised to be spot-cleaned or washed by hand. Because it can take a few steps to remove the straps, it is usually advised to wipe them down after each feeding while still attached to the chair.

Is the cushion water resistant/stain resistant?

The cushion is made from fabric and is not water resistant, but is machine washable.

Worst chair out there
I can't begin to tell what a garbage this chair is.
It's difficult to assemble, difficult to adjust the straps, difficult to put the child in and out (in fact I wasn't able to put my daughter in it even once), difficult to remove the tray.

Great ergonomics, poor practicality
I have mixed feelings about our Tripp Trapp (for a baby, but can’t speak for a toddler). I love the ergonomics of it. It seems very comfortable for our 8 month old. I don’t understand the design of the tray, as the bottom of it is difficult to clean due to all of the crevices/ nooks and crannies. Little baby fingers smear food all up in there. You also can’t suction anything to the tray, unfortunately, which is more of a nuisance than I thought it would be. The straps are very challenging to adjust (I gave up on it), but it sounds like this issue was addressed with the newer straps. So maybe my complaint is more about the tray than anything. Perhaps once we ditch the tray, we’ll have a more enjoyable experience with it. But for now, I don’t think I would purchase this high chair again (for the baby stage at least). I probably should have considered the Clikk over this.

Worth the investment
Skeptical as this is quite a pricy chair, but we have had this chair for a few weeks and have to say it’s well worth the purchase! My daughter loves it at 6 months old it’s making the food exploration a much easier and enjoyable experience. It’s very secure I even sat on it before a setting up the toddler attachment. Really like everything about this chair, if you are on the fence like I was it so far has been worth the investment.

Rude on the phone
I called customer support for help with my order and was treated very rudely. I will never buy from Stokke again.

The straps are terrible in all ways
The straps on this chair make me regret this purchase. They are so difficult to adjust, they are also very hard to click in and out of when the baby is strapped in. If there were an emergency and I needed to get my child out quickly, I would fail.

Really Disappointed
I want to love this thing. I really do. But I genuinely hate it. I was so excited to get this (very expensive) high chair for my daughter based on thousands of glowing reviews and the recommendation of several infant feeding specialists. I really enjoy the look of the chair but that is about the only thing I like. It is really difficult to use. The tray release is all the way at the back so it takes a lot of bending and feeling around to find. The straps are truly awful - hard to clean, hard to adjust, and the release buttons get stuck so you have a screaming impatient baby who is stuck in the straps. God forbid you take it apart to clean it, it is difficult to take apart and put back together. I am an OT myself and was really looking forward to having a beautiful piece of baby equipment that would support my baby well for eating, but from the parent perspective I am just so annoyed with it. I'm sick to my stomach over how much money went into this setup to be this disappointed.

Difficult to use
I have been using this as a high chair for about 3 months and I hate it.
The tray is extremely hard to get in and out, I feel that I need 4 hands and to use my whole body weight to snap it down.
The straps are difficult to release, I almost cut them due to me trying to get my crying baby out. I cannot imagine if she was in distress and trying to unclip it.
The pads trap food inside where the buckle and tray insert, and you have to remove everything to clean them.
The tray itself has a large portion that extends on either side towards the seat where your baby can get their feet underneath when you try to lift them out and causes them so much pain.
I have said multiple times I cannot hate this as a high chair anymore than I currently do. I just hope after I put it away for a bit and can use it as a kid chair, I will like it better.
For a $400 chair, I expect it to have better design.

Baby Chair Stuck
My husband is ready to throw this entire set away, I am not ready to give up since it was all so expensive and we purchased all of the additional parts required. Currently we cannot use this seat as the baby seat attachment is stuck 4 guys have since tried to get this out and cannot remove it.

The most user UN-friendly highchair
We bought this after reading countless glowing reviews. Not sure what highchair those people got but the Stokke Tripp Trapp is the most user unfriendly product we have used for our 10 month old twins. First, putting together is not easy. And then any time you want to adjust it, you need an allen wrench and at least 10 minutes of precious time. Plus once your babies get big enough to drop the seat too far to allow the infant insert to clip in, it becomes WORTHLESS. You cant use the tray. You can't safely secure the children. This chair is frankly awful and I'm upset we wasted so much money on it. Don't buy it unless you want a highchair that can be used for 9 months max and then collect dust in your house after that.

Lost my mind adjusting the straps!!! So difficult!
Want to love this chair but the harness is extremely extremely difficult to adjust. Hands were in pain after attempting to adjust the straps to fit my baby. The part where the legs go through is very hard as well with no padding.
