Starling Smart Bassinet

This bassinet is beautiful! The materials and fabrics feel so soft and luxurious. My first baby was a very fussy sleeper, never sleeping more than an hour or two at a time for the first couple months. I was hopeful my second baby would be different, but they were the same. So I was very, very excited to get this and had a lot of hope it would make things better. And my gosh, this has literally changed our lives for the entire family! It looks simple and a bit assuming, in a classy way, but is absolutely packed with features. Every feature seems to have multiple settings for the fullest customization and control. I especially appreciate the Bluetooth feature as my baby already had a specific sound they like to fall asleep to. It was easy and quick to set up and the apps are all easy to use and understand (though just some small glitches here and there), and I love being able to listen to what’s going on and control everything from my phone. The different movements are helpful depending on baby’s mood; I’ve noticed some are more soothing than others depending on how upset they are. But most importantly, it WORKS. It actually WORKS! My baby is finally sleeping, which means we are finally sleeping, and I can truly be the parent I want to be because I’m not desperately constantly sleep deprived. I’ve barely dived into the full scope of everything this smart bassinet has to offer and it’s already made such a huge impact and difference in our lives. I will never go without one again if we have anymore babies! The only small complaints I have, which are greatly overshadowed by everything I love about it, is it’s a bit tall. I do wish the legs were adjustable and I could make the height a little shorter and then taller again as needed. I also wish the max height/weight were a bit bigger simply because I’d want to use it as long as possible. I very graciously received the Maxi Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet in Heritage from Stellar Product Testing Panel. In a world of ever growing technology, who would have ever thought that a bassinet could read the exact rhythm and movement a baby may need to calm/maintain a resting stat. This one does it exceptionally well. It was the EASIEST to put together and all it took was a few snaps of the legs and it was ready to rock and roll. Aesthetically, it is truly gorgeous. It is wild to me that something with so many features can fit into something so simple and modern.

My daughter was a bit picky when she was born when it came to bassinets. This one. She went into instantly. I think it has something to do with the way the netting and mattress fit really comfily into the base itself. She is able to self soothe with the mix of the sounds and the many operational functions. She loves the Zephyr motion as it gives a little bit of everything.

I love the ability to be able to operate from the app as well. The bluetooth allows for you to hook up easily in case you are not in the room. My daughter loves the white noise function and will even lay in the bassinet a bit longer when she wakes to the built in lullaby style sound. The sensors for cry alert is also great. We haven't used this option as extensively as we naturally wake when she does and are able to lean in to adjust. However, love that the option is there.
All in all, having never tried a smart bassinet"---this one feels like the choice of all choices. It's gorgeous, easy to put together, highly functional, and my baby loves it. If you are at all debating--let this be your sign.

Our baby has settled so much easier, and I’ve noticed them falling asleep faster, staying relaxed longer, and even napping more soundly. The motions are smooth and don’t feel jarring or too fast, which I really appreciate for those early months.

The **Cry Translation Technology** has been a life-saver. It’s amazing how accurately it picks up on our baby’s cries and translates them into a type of distress or need (hungry, tired, etc.). I was super excited to receive this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel as I had been using an older, more basic bassinet for my baby and I was ready for a change.
Without a doubt, this bassinet is beautiful and attractive. Baby products are often not an added bonus to a room's aesthetic, but this one truly is. The materials are of premium quality and I'm sure this piece will last for years and years. I love how the main fabric is sheer so that the baby can look out (and breathe), but it is still super strong and sturdy.
While I do appreciate the product's design, there are 2 things which I would have appreciated: 1) a shorter bassinet- I keep my baby next to my bed and would like to be able to reach her without having to get up and 2) wheels! It would probably take away from the classiness of the design, but having wheels on a bassinet really can come in handy.
The smart features are super cool. This bassinet essentially has a built-in sound machine and baby monitor! I also love the 2-way audio. This was my first time using a "smart" baby item; I did find it a little bit confusing to navigate through the app, maybe it has a little too much information/ options. My baby doesn't specifically get calmed down by the movements, but had I started using this bassinet when she was a newborn (she's 3 months now), it could be she would take to it differently.
In all, it's a beautiful, well-made bassinet with great features.

I received the Maxi-Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I appreciate how simple Maxi-Cosi made the assembly of this item, I just popped all 4 legs in place and it was ready to go! This bassinet has many smart features, including some that others on the market do not. What really stood out to me is that there are 5 different motions you can choose from with 3 speeds, while others have 1 motion with variable speed. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt that this bassinet didn’t have built-in straps like other high-end bassinets are on the market. However, being able to use our own swaddle or sleep slack allowed us to use our breathing band/sack for extra peace of mind. The Connected Family app was a little overwhelming at first compared to others, but it is user friendly. I absolutely love that we are able to control the bassinet from another room, this was very helpful overnight. My favorite part of the app is like that you are able to create your own scenes for naps and overnights customized to your baby’s preferences. I like the idea of the CryAssist technology and that it keeps track of when my baby cries, but I think we need a couple more weeks to judge the accuracy. Our previous bassinet automatically tracked the sleep time once our baby was strapped in and that is a feature I wish this had instead of manually starting and stopping sleep time. As a first time mom, I highly recommend this bassinet to other first time moms and anyone expanding their family! With so many features and helpful tools our sleepless nights are a thing of the past! I can’t not mention how aesthetically pleasing and simple yet elegant this bassinet is. Pictures do not do justice!

I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I couldn't be happier (as well as my baby boy!!). For the past 10 years my wife and I had kids. We've always dreamed of having a smart bassinet that would help us out just a little. So when we found out that our favorite brand Maxi Cosi was about to release the Maxi Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet we couldn't wait to try it with our fourth and last child. The elegance and modern design is astonishing to us both. We love the wood legs with golden metal touch, to light beige color (it brightens the room so much!!). Super easy to set up and connect to our phone via bluetooth. It has 5 natural motions: sway, cradle,flutter, cascade(which is my son's favorite; it goes up and down) and zephyr. The cry assist helps letting me know if the baby is fussy, gassy or hungry. I love the ecocare system made super soft, gentle and breathable. No need for an audio baby monitor as it connect to an app and I am able to listen in and communicate two way talk. Built in bluetooth speak allows me to play my own music(which the baby is familiar with and it makes it comforting). As well as it comes with it's own music (5 different sounds that includes white noise and lullabies) and 5 different volume levels (what a great feature!!) For those that don't like to set up with too many tools, you won't need any to set this up! (other than a phone!). This bassinet includes a cable and a power cable for an easy set up. What happens when there's a spill from the baby? This bassinet comes with a removable mattress cover that is easy to wash! The mattress pad is very comfortable for the baby and as our baby tends to get fussy at night, he felt very comfortable sleeping on it. The motion and music he really loved during nap time! This Maxi Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet also has nap and night time timers. Very helpful with a newborn! The only thing I do wish to see as an improvement is having the length of this bassinet slightly longer for those babies that surprise us in height. My son is almost 3 months and quite tall for his age, while he hasn't hit 20lbs maximum on this bassinet he's almost done with the height portion which was quite surprising. I have not run into any functional issues otherwise. It's truly made a remarkable and high end feel to it. A wonderful gift for baby shower or expecting new parents or simply the perfect gift to surprise your expecting spouse. I know my wife was over the moon excited when I surprised her with this bassinet as she spoke about the Kindred Collection all pregnancy long!!

As a mom of 2 under 2, a bassinet is a must-have for all new babies. I’ve used 2 smart bassinets before trying the Maxi-Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet and I honestly have to say this one is the best. The price for this bassinet is more affordable, yet has a lot more bells and whistles than the others I’ve used. Not only does it have the basic lullabies and white noise, but you can actually connect your phone via Bluetooth and stream any music you want. I love how you can automate and customize the settings through the app, including setting nap and bedtime timers. What takes this bassinet to a level above the competition is the CryAssist. It analyzes your baby’s cry and lets you know what needs to be addressed. So you can either select one of the bassinet’s 5 motions feature using the app and soothe them back to sleep, or go warm up a bottle.

Aesthetically, it’s a beautiful piece of furniture that will blend in with any home design. The power cord plugs into one of the legs which I think is so smart! No ugly dangling cords. The only thing I wish I could do was adjust the height of the basket, but you can’t do that with any of the smart bassinet brands.

As a parent who has experience with both the Maxi-Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet and the other high-end smart bassinet on the market, I can confidently say that the Starling has a lot to offer—especially at its price point.

Height & Ergonomics
One of the first things I noticed about the Starling is that it is noticeably taller than my other bassinet, which has been a game-changer for my back. With my previous bassinet, I found myself constantly bending over to pick up and put down my baby, which became physically exhausting, especially during nighttime wake-ups and being newly post-party. The extra height on the Starling makes these motions much easier and more comfortable, a feature I greatly appreciate.

Value & Pricing
For the price, I believe this bassinet is appropriately priced for the features and technology it offers. While it isn’t as expensive as the highest-end smart bassinet on the market, it still delivers impressive functionality and a sleek, modern design.

Pros
•Modern Design & Neutral Colors – The Starling’s aesthetic fits beautifully into any nursery. It has a sleek, contemporary look that feels high-end and blends well with different décor styles.
•Five Motions & Three Speeds – The ability to customize motion types and speeds is a great feature. It provides flexibility to find the right soothing motion that works best for your baby.
•App-Controlled Convenience – Being able to control the bassinet via an app is extremely convenient, especially during late-night wake-ups when I don’t want to fumble with manual controls.
•Cry Translation Technology – This was one of the most intriguing features for me. While I wouldn’t say it’s entirely accurate in identifying every cry, it’s surprisingly insightful and could improve with time and software updates.
•Compatible with Any Swaddle – Unlike the other high-end smart bassinet that requires a proprietary swaddle to function, the Starling allows you to use any swaddle or sleepwear, which is a huge plus for versatility and cost savings.

Cons
•Smaller Size & Weight Limit – The Starling is on the smaller end for bassinets, with a max weight limit of 20 lbs. My son is 18 weeks old and 19 lbs, and he is just barely able to fit in it lengthwise. This means that some babies may outgrow it rather quickly.
•No Built-In Straps for Baby Positioning – While I appreciate the flexibility of using any swaddle, I did find that the other high-end bassinet’s required swaddle system provided additional security by keeping my baby safely on their back. This isn’t a dealbreaker for me, but it’s something to consider if you value that extra peace of mind, especially while sleeping.
•Risk of Baby Not Liking Motion – As with any smart bassinet, there’s always the chance that your baby simply won’t take to the motion. Investing in a high-tech bassinet is a risk, as not all babies respond well to the automated soothing.

I would give this bassinet a million stars if I could. I received the Maxi-Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel and it has changed my life. I'm not joking! My daughter is 11 weeks old and we have been struggling with nighttime sleep since day one. We have tried so many products, routines, and "hacks" to get her to fall asleep and stay asleep at night. Night one of trying this bassinet and she slept for 8 hours in a row. Yes, you read that right. EIGHT hours!

Not only does this product work like a charm, but it looks great too. I received the bassinet in the Natural Heritage color and it is beautiful. The neutral colors are great for any space, looking sleek and sophisticated. The mesh fabric walls are super soft and breathable, and an embossment on the inside says that it is made from recycled materials which I love.

The control panel for the bassinet is smooth and seamless as well. The controls are touch sensitive, so you don't have to worry about waking your baby with clunky buttons making noises. There are 5 different motions on the bassinet (my baby's favorite is the Flutter option), with 3 levels of intensity for each. On the control panel you also have options to play music or white noise, volume controls, a timer, an option to turn on Cry Assist, and of course the main power button. You can also control all of these custom sleep options in the Connected Family app, which is incredibly fast and easy to set up. The Connected Family app will also keep track of how often your baby cries and will automatically adjust the bassinet's motion and speed to sooth your baby. This is part of the Cry Assist technology. This is a great feature that is available to parents through the app, but the bassinet is so great at soothing my baby with just the 5 standard movements that we have never needed to use the Cry Assist!

The only con of this product is that the Wifi icon on the control panel will not stop blinking even though it's connected to Wifi through the app. This isn't a big deal for me though. You can dim the control panel lights on the app so that they don't disturb you or baby in the night.

Overall, I would say my favorite feature of this Maxi-Cosi bassinet is the 5 motion options that are customizable in intensity. I find that they are all gentle and soothing to my baby. It is the closest thing to being rocked by a parent! I would recommend this bassinet to any family. I don't know what kind of magic Maxi-Cosi put into it, but it is easily the best baby product I've ever used. I feel like a human again now that I'm able to actually sleep through the night while my baby sleeps peacefully next to me!

This Maxi-Cosi Starling Smart Bassinet is the most fantastic bassinet I have come across after having 4 kids now. I wish I would have had this bassinet to use for my three older kids! It has smart built in technology that connects with a family app that can be used to customize and create a safer and more enjoyable environment for your baby. The oval shape of the bassinet that opens kind of outward is so pretty and aesthetically pleasing. I don't think I have ever come across a more beautiful looking bassinet. It blends right into our bedroom furniture and just so easily became part of our room layout. The light wooden color of the legs is made of such beautiful wood and the dark gray and white colors of the soft fabrics that wrap the bassinet are so nicely contrasting and elegant looking. The bassinet cord plugs into the foot of the leg of the bassinet and the cord then plugs into the wall. On the dashboard provided on the front of the bassinet is the power on button as well as other buttons that can be pushed to change the sounds, the way the bassinet moves, and also a timer! You can set-up customized almost playlists of movements and sounds for your baby that you know they like and with the app that is connected you can also then utilize it to learn more about your baby's cries and their needs. My little boy loves the up and down and swaying motions along with the white-noise sound that can turned up or down for the volume depending on what baby needs. I also really like the height of the bassinet, which can help keep older siblings out of the bassinet and keep baby higher and safer from little hands always wanting to be with baby. At the same time, it is a little high to be able to have right next to your bed, which is fine if that works for you too. I also love that the walls of the bassinet are made of a beautiful patterned material that is somewhat see-thru and breathable. I am just so thrilled to have this beautiful bassinet for my little guy and to help him sooth and sleep even better!
