HALO’s SleepSack Muslin Swaddle is designed to match your baby’s sleep style and stage of development. It has a bag-style zippered sleep sack with an attached, adjustable upper body swaddle that wraps around your baby’s arms and torso. You can wrap your baby with her arms snugly at her sides, hands-to-face, or with one or both arms free. Some babies sleep better in the more cocooned wrap, and others need access to their hands for self-soothing. Large, adjustable Velcro fasteners on the top part of the swaddle help you get just the right fit.

Made with two layers of lightweight 100% cotton muslin, this version of the HALO swaddle is breathable for optimal airflow, reducing your baby’s risk of overheating and ensuring comfortable sleep. The weave is durable so it will keep its shape over time, but the fabric feel is ultra-soft (and gets softer with each wash).

Swaddling helps your baby feel held and secure, and calms the natural startle (or Moro) reflex, especially in the first four months. This helps your baby stay asleep longer. Using a swaddle of any kind instead of covering your baby with a loose blanket is also safer, avoiding extra fabric in the crib or bassinet that can cover your baby’s face or impede breathing.

The HALO swaddle is meant to be used over baby PJs in the place of a loose blanket. The zipper opens and closes from the bottom, making diaper changes easier. And the roomy sack at the bottom allows your baby to move her legs freely, promoting long-term hip health (though some babies sleep better when both legs and arms are wrapped snugly).

Parents report that the HALO SleepSack Swaddle holds up well to washing, but do remember to attach the Velcro to itself so it doesn’t stick itself or other items in the wash, especially for the muslin version. Stop swaddling when your baby shows signs of rolling over or breaking out of the wrap.
