Description

While we hope this is a kit you won’t need, most babies will get sick or hurt from time to time. So we worked with emergency room doctors (and parents) to help you feel prepared if and when that time comes. These hospital-grade medical supplies and soothers were ones they depended on in their daily practice.

The kit goes beyond the essentials and shares important information about how to use them, plus when to level up (call 9-1-1 or head to the ER). Consider it peace of mind packed in a box.

In the kit:

  • Full-sized items
  • Hospital-grade products
  • Red flags to call 9-1-1 or go to the ER
  • Infant/Toddler CPR card
  • Step-by-step instructions written by emergency doctors

We separated the baby-care essentials and guidance into two groupings, Mend and Tend.

Note: This kit does not include Band-Aids, as they can be a choking hazard for babies and toddlers. Please see more about this below.

MEND

These products are for treating rashes and fever, and improving congestion. Also included: a Fever Medication Dosing Chart, Infant/Toddler CPR card and instructions on using the nasal suction and taking baby’s temperature.

Rectal Digital Thermometer

You’ll get an accurate reading in 30-seconds on the large LCD display. Pair with the lubricant (included) before using. (Step-by-step guidance provided in the kit.)

Z-Guard Skin Protectant Paste

A blend of petrolatum and zinc oxide that helps relieve diaper rash and create a protective barrier. Safe to use at every change, even on sensitive skin.

Wellements Organic Vitamin D Drops

One drop provides the recommended daily dose of Vitamin D for breastfed babies (as determined by the American Academy of Pediatrics), which helps promote baby’s healthy growth and bone development.

Dreambaby Baby Nail Scissors

These small safety scissors have comfortable handles and rounded tips for extra protection. (More tips in the kit.)

Dreambaby Gentle File Emery Boards, 10 ct

Designed to gently file sharp edges, the fine grain ensures smooth nails without discomfort. Reusable storage pouch included.

You might be wondering why this Kit doesn’t include Band-Aids. Our advising physician specifically advised against including bandages due to them being a choking hazard for babies and toddlers. Babies place hands and feet in their mouth as they explore the world, and bandages should not be applied to those areas. Bandages can also restrict circulation if wrapped too tightly. So what do you do if you need one? If possible, opt not to use one on minor cuts and scrapes (hold gauze until the bleeding stops). For larger cuts, seek medical attention.

It’s everything you might need (products and step-by-step guidance), right at your fingertips, without the last-minute trips to the drug store.

Not necessarily
The Baby First Aid and Grooming Kit was initially delivered to the wrong address and the person who received it was kind enough to drive it over to my house. When I opened the box in which the kit came in, I noticed that the seal that read “VOID IF BROKEN” on the kit handle was already broken. I’m assuming it may have been returned after being open or used previously. The second thing I noticed was that it says, “PREPAREDNESS KIT DEVELOPED BY DOCTORS”. I myself am a nurse, but I think I would have been more drawn to it if it had been developed by doctors AND moms. When I opened the kit it was divided into two main categories: “MEND” and “TEND” with a reference card on the top, which is a nice touch. When you become parents, you are bombarded with so much new information and differing opinions and advice as to how to care for your baby. Having a resource to look back to helps when you’re overwhelmed or can’t remember exactly what to do. The reference card also highlights some red flags for parents to know when they need to go to the ER. The kit overall feels like random things were put together. The cool ring teether selected for the kit is too hard and stiff, in my opinion. The diaper cream selected is scented, which may not be appropriate for all babies’ skin types. The nasal suction bulb is a necessity, but our hospital nursing staff were kind enough to provide us with some with each baby delivery to bring home with us. I found that our 3 babies were not a fan of the nanobebe pacifier included in the kit. The boogie wipes and saline nasal spray have definitely been
essential baby items that we have used time and time again. I personally do not feel comfortable using scissor like nail trimmers, but have found electric trimmers to be easier and more comfortable for our babies. My husband and I have never attempted a rectal temperature on our kids and honestly never felt brave enough. We always used a temporal or ear thermometer. I honestly would not recommend this kit as an essential baby gift, especially for new parents.

Great Gift!! The whole package.
This kit is the total package and would be an absolutely great baby shower gift. I love that when you open it up it has all kinds of medical treatments and recommendations. The seal on the handle would be much better if it were plastic. It did not peel easy, tore, and left residue, but it was not too hard to get off. There are so many great things in this kit and good brands too. I love the organic vitamin D drops. The brush/comb set, baby oil, tether ring, finger toothbrush, chest and foot rub, boogie wipes, and nasal spray were also huge wins for me. Buying these separate would be much more. Good brands too! I think this is a great value for this kit and would be great for any parent having a baby!

Great first aid kit to have for any parent!
I’m a 2nd time mom and was pleasantly surprised by this first aid kit! It had everything I needed for my new baby, plus items I could use for my toddler! I don’t love using the same items on both kids (especially if one is sick) so having multiple items of the same product is great to have. This is also an amazing kit to have if you are a first time parent and it would have saved me a lot of last minute running to the store for items I didn’t know I needed! I was very impressed by the quality of items chosen and how it was packaged (it came sealed around the handle so you know it was all new!). The extra first aid cards were also a nice surprise. Overall, I think this is a great kit to have for any parent and would make an amazing gift!

Must have for first baby!
I really liked the first aid & grooming kit. My favorite item was the wooden hair brush/comb, i can’t wait to use it on my newborn. A lot of the items that came in the kit are items I used with my first baby. I also loved using the silicone toothbrush on my baby. I would definitely recommend this to first time parents.

Best Kit for First Time Parents
I am absolutely in love with this first aid kit. I'm a first time parent and tried to research every last item my baby might need before she arrived. This kit not only covers all the things I thought I would need, but it has more essentials that I didn't know about! This kit comes with two sets of items, things to treat baby's medical needs and everyday grooming items.

The mend side comes with the tools you need to tend to a baby who may be sick or hurt. It has nasal spray and wipes, a rectal thermometer, baby toothbrush, gauze, and disinfectant. What I'm most excited about are the included cards for medication dosage and infant CPR instructions. Like I said, I'm a new parent, and if I were ever in a scenario where my baby has a fever or needs CPR, I'll be glad that I kept this first aid kit on hand. Just for these two items alone, I will be taking this kit with me everywhere my baby goes. It will help reassure me of what to do in any scary scenario.

The tend side comes with all the grooming basics that I put on my registry individually. I wish I had known about this kit before then, because I would have just asked for this instead! It has baby nail scissors, nail files, skin moisturizer, hair brushes, nasal bulb, baby teether, and even vitamin D drops. I'm so happy to have this kit and this absolutely is my go to gift for any future baby showers. The value is incredible and having so many useful items in one place is a must have for new parents.

Great starter kit for new parents
This is a great starter kit for new parents. As I just had my 2nd kid, I already had a lot of these items. However, this would’ve been so helpful after the birth of my first! It contains many items that I had to panic buy whenever an issue came up. I think it contains a great variety of much needed items and would be perfect for keeping in the car, as it comes with a handy carrying and storage case.

Great for new moms
The first aid and grooming kit box is a great starter kit for any new mom. The first aid portion has all you need in case baby gets hurt and has pamphlets for infant CPR and dosage of medication for fever. I like the nasal saline because my baby gets boogers and a stuffy nose occasionally and this helps loosens them so it is easier to get out. The grooming portion has a nice soft brush. I also like the vitamin D drops as it was something I did not think to buy while I was pregnant.
The only things I did not like were the emery boards. The emery boards were not able to file my newborn’s malleable sharp fingernails. I ended up buying an electric nail grinder to fix that issue.
Overall, I did like the kit, and I would recommend it for a first time mom. It has a good amount of items for baby to use as baby gets older and has baby’s first aid needs all in a box.

Great First Aid & Grooming Kit for New Parents
As a second-time dad, I've come to appreciate having all the essential baby care items in one convenient place, and this Baby First Aid & Grooming Kit delivers just that. The variety of items included in the kit is impressive, covering everything from nail care to basic health checks. It's the perfect little box to have on hand once you leave the hospital - especially if you feel clueless on how to take care of your newborn.

My favorite component has to be the baby nail clippers—they're designed with safety in mind, making it much less stressful to trim tiny nails. When we had our first son, we tried to use only nail files and failed miserably. It's good to see that this kit not only provides you the nail files but also the clippers. The thermometer is another practical inclusion, providing peace of mind when monitoring for fevers. What's even better is the dosage chart included in the kit - it would be great if they could also include the actual medicine in the kit.

The kit's compact design makes it easy to keep organized, whether you're at home or on the go. While it covers most of the basics, a few more medical items like antiseptic wipes or bandages would make it even more comprehensive. I was actually surprised that there were no bandages in the kit. I was also surprised that there were no lotions or body wash/shampoo.

Overall, this kit makes an excellent baby shower gift or a thoughtful purchase for any new parent. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. It's a reliable, all-in-one solution for baby care needs.

A must have
When I was pregnant with my first, I kept looking at this first aid kit. I didn’t end up getting it because it was out of my budget, but I ended up needing to purchase most of the items anyway, which cost me more. With just recently having my second child, I wanted to be prepared. I was shocked when I opened the kit to see just how many products were inside, and full-sized items at that. I like that it’s separated into two compartments of mend and tend, and even has information on the inside for emergencies. You never know what you’ll need exactly but having some of these items on hand, is one less thing to stress about. The baby first aid and grooming kit is a must have, and I can’t recommend this enough.

Great Kit for 1st Time Parents
As a first time mom, I wasn’t exactly sure what I would need or use. The Babylist First Aid Kit gave me the peace of mind that I had everything I would need for those first few months. What I love about the kit is that when you open it the lid has an explanation of the common issues with newborns. It is very clear and easy to understand. It takes the extra step of googling out. The kit is divided into “tend” and “mend” items. It is broken down that way on the lid as well. Again - as a first time mom I appreciate that it really spells out how and what to do. The carrying case is well made and fits nicely in my nursery dresser!
