Description

The Gelato Mini Crib delivers a pint-size punch of personality. Mini-sized for nursery nooks, small-space nurseries and shared bedrooms, it’s a smart alternative to a bassinet. The clean and modern design has feet in a stylish contrast finish.

The Gelato also smartly grows with your little one. It transitions from a crib to a toddler bed and daybed with a toddler bed conversion kit (sold separately). It can also convert from a crib to a twin bed (conversion kit sold separately) for the big kid years.

What we love about it

Sized for small spaces, this cute crib also converts to a twin-size bed.

14 Questions
Do you need a conversion kit to use it as a daybed (without the toddler rail)?

No conversion kit is needed to convert the crib into a daybed.

Does this become a full size crib?

This doesn't convert into a full-size crib.

How do I use the included mattress?

You just want to place the mattress pad on top of the mattress support board.

Will this crib in the natural walnut match the wood of the other Babyletto natural walnuts dressers?

This crib will match the Gelato dresser in Natural Walnut & Gold Feet.

Does this come with the toddler conversion kit?

This does not come with the toddler bed conversion kit as that is sold separately.

Mattress length?

This accommodates a standard mini mattress which is around 37 inches long.

Is the padded mattress thing that comes with this a mattress? The instructions are not clear on whether you have to add a mattress on top or if the mattress pad that is comes with is sufficient for a mattress.

The crib does come with a 1" mattress pad, but Babyletto recommends additional support by getting a mini crib mattress.

For the mini crib setting, can the mattress height be raised or lowered?

This crib has two height settings. One is a bassinet or newborn setting, and the other is a standard crib height.

Could you add wheels to the feet of this crib?

Wheels can not be added to this crib. If you'd like a similar Mini Crib that comes with wheels, the Babyletto Origami is a great option!

What is the max weight the mini crib holds?

As every child grows at a different rate, it's more critical to pay attention to their height than their weight. Babyletto recommends to stop using this mini crib when the child begins to climb or reaches 35" in height.

Love it!
We skipped getting a bassinet and a full size crib and just got this mini crib. We love it! It fit in our room easily and fit through the doorways when we moved it to our daughter's room. I really love that it can convert to a toddler and a twin bed later, so we won't need to buy a whole new bed for her when the time comes.

Horrible instructions and hardware
Absolute nightmare to put together. None of the pieces are labeled but it actually matters where each leg goes. The Allen wrench was also stripped within 10 mins of using it

Be VERY CAREFUL assembling walnut finish- poor quality
Very cute concept and nice size. We got the walnut with gold feet, which had an upcharge. Unfortunately the walnut finish is very delicate. The directions specified two people to assemble, but failed to specify that both should be un-pregnant! The metal mattress support has fittings that scratch the finish and leave white streaks if they so much as bump it. Getting the metal mattress support in place with the needed level of exact precision to not scratch the finish requires a range of motion that my wife does not, at 30 wks, have. My advice would be to save the 4 little bubble wrap tubes that hold the brass feet and tape them onto the 4 metal swivel-out fittings on the metal mattress support as you're getting it into place- then support from the bottom with a pile of books- then take the bubble wrap off as you screw each fitting into the frame- and repeat that process whenever raising or lowering the mattress height! Even with that care, I'm doubtful that the finish will hold up throughout the life span of the crib components as they convert to different configurations. Kids don't give their stuff the bubble wrap treatment. Disappointing given the price point. The crib itself seems structurally sound, but I can get "structurally sound" for $100-150 less at Ikea.
