You are not required to create a Babylist account to make a Gift Contribution.

Publicly Shared Information

Registry users may post pictures or leave comments for gift givers on their registry. This information may be viewable by the public, depending on your registry settings. Posting this information is optional. If you do not want people to view your personal or other information, please do not include the information in posted messages.

Search Engine Indexing and Privacy

By choosing to make your registry indexable by search engines like Google and Bing, you acknowledge and accept that your registry information will be accessible and visible to the public through search engine results. However, if you later decide to revert your registry to private, please be aware that the removal of your indexed content from search engine results is not immediate and may take some time.

The removal process is not within our control and is subject to the policies and practices of the respective search engines. We cannot guarantee when, or in some cases if, your registry information will be completely removed from search engine results once you change the setting back to private.

We advise you to consider the potential privacy implications before opting to make your registry searchable by search engines. If you have any concerns or questions about this process, please feel free to contact our support team for assistance.

The Babylist Helpbot for CS, our AI customer support chatbot, is powered by Sierra, a third-party customer support AI provider. Helpbot conversations are processed and stored by Sierra, subject to Sierra's data retention practices. When you contact Helpbot about a health or breast pump order, we may share verification details, including your name, email address, date of birth, and order information, with Sierra to authenticate your request.

Both AI Chatbots are artificial intelligence systems, not humans. Neither is designed to collect health or medical information; please do not share it. You may request deletion of your AI Chatbot conversation records at any time by contacting us at [email protected].

The privacy and data protection laws in the U.S. may not be equivalent to such laws in your country of residence.

CLEMENTINE

The following section applies specifically to Clementine, Babylist's private family photo-sharing application ("Clementine"), and supplements the general terms of this Privacy Policy. If you use your Babylist account or a third party such as Apple or Google to sign in to Clementine, the general data practices described in this Policy also apply to your use of Clementine. This section describes the additional data practices specific to Clementine. In the event of any conflict between this section and the general Privacy Policy with respect to Clementine data, this section governs.

Data Collected Through Clementine

When you use Clementine, we may collect: account sign up and registration information such as email name and address; device and usage information; photos you upload; information about friends and family you invite to view your content including name, email address and relation to you; comments, captions and other text content you may contribute; facial data generated by the face grouping feature if you enable it (described below); inputs you provide when generating AI-powered stories; and precise location data embedded in photos by your device if your device's photo location settings are enabled at the time of upload. Clementine receives this data as part of the photo file and does not independently request location access from your device.

How We Use Clementine Data

We use Clementine data solely to provide and operate the Clementine service. Specifically, we use your Clementine data to:

  • Display your photos and content to the members of your authorized circle;
  • Generate place names and weather conditions for your photos where you have enabled location features;
  • Power face grouping features where you have enabled them, as described below;
  • Generate AI stories and captions where you have enabled that feature, as described below;
  • Perform automated child safety scanning as described below; and
  • Respond to your support requests and ensure the security and integrity of the service.

How We Share Clementine Data

We share Clementine data with:

  • Invited friends and family you invite to your circle;
  • Cloud infrastructure providers who store and process your photos solely on our behalf;
  • Third-party service providers who power optional features you have enabled (including AI story generation and location place-name services); and
  • Child safety providers and authorities, as described in our Child Safety Policy.

Location data embedded in your photos may be transmitted to a location services provider solely to generate place names for display within your account. Clementine data is not used for advertising or cross-product personalization.

Children; Child Safety

Children are not account holders in Clementine. We do not use photos of minors for advertising, marketing, or AI model training. All photos uploaded to Clementine are automatically scanned for CSAM.

Facial Detection and Face Grouping

Face grouping is an optional feature that organizes your photos by person. If you enable it, Clementine generates facial data from uploaded photos to group matching faces within your account. This processing applies to all faces appearing in uploaded photos, including individuals who are not Clementine account holders. Face detection processing occurs on Babylist's servers. Account holders are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate authority to share photos of others.

We use facial data solely to power face grouping within your account. We do not use it for advertising, profile building, or AI model training, and we do not share it with third parties. Clementine is not currently available to residents of Illinois, Maryland, Washington, Colorado, or Texas as account holders. If you revoke consent for face grouping, no new photos you upload will be processed through the face grouping pipeline, and retained facial data associated with your account will be promptly deleted. You may request deletion of your facial data at any time by contacting [email protected].

Data Retention

Clementine data, including photos, facial data, AI-generated stories, and account data, is retained for as long as your account is active or as otherwise necessary to provide the Clementine service, and is deleted upon account deletion or upon your request. Specific retention periods may vary by data type and applicable legal requirements. CSAM scan logs are retained as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A. To delete your Clementine account or request deletion of specific data, contact [email protected].
