Why I Love It: My Go-To Bottle for My Breastfed Baby

Is there a baby product you’re absolutely obsessed with? Or something from your registry that you didn’t think you even needed—but now can't stop telling everyone about? We're talking to real parents about the baby gear they just can’t live without, from $20 snot suckers to $300 breathable crib mattresses and everything in between.

Why did she get it?

Some parents start prepping a feeding plan for their newborn as soon as they find out they’re expecting. Other parents don’t have time to think about it until the baby arrives. Amanda Le, a wellness influencer known for her viral vegan recipes, was the latter.

“I was super focused on pregnancy and birth, so I didn’t put that much thought into postpartum and breastfeeding,” Le said. “It just hit me when it was time to breastfeed. It was so challenging at first.”

Committed to breastfeeding her daughter, Jade, she hired a lactation consultant and eventually found a feeding routine that worked for both her and her baby. But then came another hurdle: bottle feeding. Le wanted to get back to her pre-baby workouts, which meant being away from Jade—and possibly interrupting her feeding schedule.

“We were testing out how it would be if I was away for an hour to take a yoga class, and my husband started introducing the bottle,” she said. “That was a challenge itself for him to get everything together—get a bottle warmer, get the bottle out, fill the bottles from the milk containers.”

Le knew that if she wanted to have more time for herself, they’d need a new bottle that would be easy to use while being breastfed baby-approved. That’s where the NUK Perfect Match Bottles came in.

Amanda’s must-haves

Before trying the NUK Perfect Match bottles, she tested other brands, but said those either had too many parts or Jade just didn’t love them—and she was starting to get worried. “Babies refusing the bottle can give you so much anxiety because you're like, ‘OK, well then, are we gonna be attached 24/7?’”

Here’s what made the Perfect Match bottles the right pick for her:

  • Simple setup: “We wanted an option for when we go on a trip or have my parents watch her for a longer amount of time,” Le said. “Introducing these to my parents will probably be simpler because they're way out of practice.” NUK Perfect Match Bottles only have two main parts: the bottle and the nipple made with soft, skin-like silicone that molds to baby’s mouth the way a breast would.

  • Combo-feeding friendly: Because Le still wanted to primarily breastfeed, she needed something that would make the bottle-to-breast (and back again) transition smooth. “My baby took to [the NUK Perfect Match Bottle] very well once we figured out which [nipple] flow was best for her,” she said. “There was no adjustment period. It was like she was breastfeeding.” The Perfect Match bottle set comes with two slow-flow nipples and two medium-flow nipples so parents can adjust based on how their baby suckles.

Who would she recommend it to?

Whether a new mom is returning to work or just wants a break from breastfeeding to rest, run errands or go out to brunch, having a reliable bottle on hand helps. For parents on the bottle hunt, Le said she’d recommend this one to: “Parents looking for versatility in feeding options—the transition between the breast and bottle is so seamless as the bottle mimics a real breast, making it easier for baby [to latch]. Also for families looking for easier cleanup because the bottles are very easy to clean and have less parts.”
