Overview

Highlights

  • For babies 4–35 lbs
  • Includes infant car seat and base
  • Infant insert included
  • Side impact protection

Description

The MESA V2 features improvements in both safety and comfort, while still being very user-friendly. Updated features include a larger UPF hideaway canopy for extra sun protection and privacy, increased headrest size to improve side impact protection, an updated fit inlay for infants 4-11 lbs and a fourth anti-rebound handle position for increased safety.

Unlike traditional LATCH connectors, MESA’s unique retracting LATCH system tightens effortlessly, minimizing installation error. An indicator window changes from red to green for visual confirmation that the base has been installed correctly. When installing without a base, the European Routing allows for a more secure installation.

MESA’s no-rethread, five-point harness adjusts with the headrest, eliminating the need to take the harness system apart as baby grows. Soft, breathable and moisture-wicking carrier fabrics keep baby cool and comfortable, and the fabrics are free from fire retardant chemicals.

To create a travel system, the MESA pairs with the VISTA (compatible with V2 and V3) or CRUZ stroller (all sold separately). With the addition of convenient adapters, the MESA is also compatible with the RIDGE and MINU stroller.

For two-car families, you can buy a second base for the MESA. This allows you to leave a base in each car and just move the infant car seat between the two.

Terrible Safety
Ugggh! I HATE this car seat, even though I wanted to like the Uppa. My 3 week old baby is in a dangerous position with the chin to chest. Plus, this car seat doesn't have a load leg. I switched the the Nuna Pipa Aire RX and it's amazing, much safer, and looks better. The Nuna also fits my baby better. So disapointed!!!!!

Mesa Max Issues
UPPAbaby used to have a product called the Mesa Max that was marketed towards providing safety and support with a load leg. My child has consistently had issues with the Mesa Max, and UPPAbaby provided foam inserts to adjust. This has been seen by many other customers on online forums. The curved back on the Mesa Max can cause chin to chest issues and potential asphyxiation. Fortuntately, the Mesa V2 has a straight back and significantly reduces this risk.

Customer Service noted to me that the Mesa Max has not been recalled, just discontinued as a product. I therefore won't be getting a replacement infant car seat, a refund, or credit. When asking for a head to toe photo of my baby in the car seat, they said it was a great fit - despite him getting red in the face, fussy, and couging every time he is in it. They recommend that my infant continue their discomfort or I transition my infant to a toddler/convertible car seat soon.

I have been a big fan of UPPAbaby with their Vista V2 stroller and was hoping to continue being a loyal UPPAbaby customer, but seeing them not own up to the discomfort and poor design of the Mesa Max has made me reconsider switching brands.

I hope there aren't any future issues with the Mesa V2, because the way UPPAbaby has been handling this issue has been quite dissatisfactory

Both babies screamed in this car seat!
Both babies screamed in the car in this seat! We thought they just didn't like the car but as soon as we changed to a different car seat they were happy as could be.

Our Mesa saved my baby's life
My family and I were recently involved in a car accident where a drunk driver going about 90mph slammed into the back of our car while we were driving on the freeway. Our 15 week old daughter was in the back seat in our Mesa V1 car seat (we had a V1 with our older daughter who was in the car in a convertible car seat). Both girls emerged from the accident completely unharmed. While I know it wasn't a V2, I wanted to share the V1 saved my baby's life and I'm sure the V2 would, too.

Would not recommend
Wanted to move this car seat the way love my other UB products but unfortunately we hated this car seat. The straps are extremely hard to adjust and they sit awkwardly. From the moment we used it to take our new baby home from the hospital, I never wanted to use it again. It's a huge chin to chest hazard. We went out and purchased a new car seat. Super disappointing especially for such an expensive car seat .

Absolutely do not buy.
This car seat is not safe. Baby is in a " C " position causing chin to chest which is super dangerous for silent asphyxiation. Super disappointed as my daughter is only 2 months old and we will have to spend even more money on another car seat now. A CPST has agreed with me this car seat is known for being way too deep causing these scary issues. Wish I did more research before I bought this. On a positive note, Cruz stroller is great.

I wanted so badly to love this car seat, but it's horrible.
I love the stroller & I would love to love the car seat but it's just terrible. Baby never looks comfortable or safe in it. Weird shape to the seat, his bottom never touches the bottom of seat. Tons of pilling within the 1st few weeks on top of fabric. Bottom clip gets stuck making it impossible to do anything with 1 hand which is pretty necessary. I've reached out to customer service, while very kind not very helpful. I will have to purchase a new seat which defeats the purpose of a stroller system.

Safer Carseats Available
Safety rating not the best compared to others. Do not recommend. I added this carseat to my registry as many parents recommended the UPPAbaby Vista Stroller. To admit, I did not do much research on the carseat prior and opted to add it since it was the UPPAbaby brand. Although silly to say, at this price point, I thought it would be a high quality carseat. Upon receiving and installing the carseat, my husband and I could immediately tell it was not secure. To confirm, we ensured that the seat was installed correctly. It wiggled around easily and seemed as if it would jerk up in the event you had to make an unexpected stop on the road. We decided to exchange this carseat for the Chicco KeyFit 35 and are happy with this replacement.
