No, the Owlet Dream Duo 2 Smart Baby Monitor does not have a built-in backup battery. Both the Owlet Cam 2 and the Dream Sock 2 require a power source to function. If the power goes out, the devices will not operate unless they are connected to a backup power solution, such as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or a portable power bank with an AC outlet for temporary use.

This can be worn inside a swaddle. It will still work as long as the Sock is directly next to the skin. Just make sure that the swaddle isn't too tight or too hot since excessive moisture and pressure may cause skin irritation on baby's sensitive skin.
You can wear the sock under clothes, but make sure it's directly against the skin. Choose loose-fitting pajamas to avoid irritating baby's sensitive skin.
The Owlet Dream Duo isn't specifically designed as a portable device, but it can be taken on vacation as long as Wi-Fi is available. It doesn’t need permanent mounting.

4 the reason I am writing this review is because now, 3 months after we have purchased this product for the steep price of $400, Owlet is now trying to compell parents to pay a monthly fee to access features that previously came with the purchase.
I honestly pray for honest companies to arise and fulfill this gap instead of the seemingly constant barrage of companies employing the unsustainable practice of turning everything into a subscription.
