Description
Nuna’s TAVO stroller grows with your baby from birth to 50 pounds—which might even get you to age 5. The company’s PIPA car seats connect to it with a simple click, so it’s a cinch to create your own travel system.
The 2019 version is similar to the original TAVO, with some great updates. The fabrics have been upgraded, and the stroller now comes standard with a leatherette handle bar.
Also new is the all-season seat: it has a mesh back and a washable seat pad for cooler weather that you can remove when it gets warm. Increased suspension means this stroller will ride well over varied terrain (that said, if you want to hike on trails or jog with your stroller, this won’t be the one for you).
Like the earlier version, the 2019 TAVO is loaded with user-friendly features, chiefly a super-easy, true one-handed fold and unfold, and one of the best canopies on the market.
Once folded, the stroller has a trolley function, so you can tow it like rolling luggage. The wheels come off for storage. The huge UPF50+ removable canopy has lots of coverage options.
The zip-away visor or “DreamDrape” pulls down for full coverage, even in a full recline. There’s a mesh window at the top with a magnetic closure so you can peek in on your baby. Another mesh panel at the back can be covered or uncovered for air flow.
The spacious seat has four recline positions, including almost completely flat. In the fully reclined mode, the adjustable footrest folds up and snaps at the bottom to create a bassinet-like enclosure for young babies. An included removable (and washable) infant insert provides extra support for smaller riders. A swing-away bumper bar (also included) fits babies of all sizes, and detaches with your toddler is old enough to climb in on their own.
Though the seat is not reversible like Nuna’s MIXX stroller, the larger seat and canopy can get you from infancy through toddlerhood with just one stroller.
The TAVO’s storage basket is also really big, and it has spring-loaded edges, so if you need to push them down a little to get your things in, they’ll pop back into shape. The basket has a smaller, zippered compartment for your keys or phone—fantastic for stashing away valuables.
To throw a few more features into the mix, the NUNA has lockable front swivel wheels and progressive suspension technology for a smooth ride. The telescoping handle bar adjusts to your height, and you can steer with one hand or brake with one foot with the one-touch braking mechanism.
If you’re looking for a down side, it would be TAVO’s ever-so-slightly too heavy weight for its class (24 lbs.) and the lack of a reversible seat.
