Overview

Description

Here’s a reliable way to stay connected at home and on the go. You can monitor baby and control the camera functions on the 5” parent unit display or stream from anywhere in the world via the Motorola Nursery app. Choose the option with one camera or two.

Remote pan scan and digital tilt allow you to view the entire room and also zoom in to get a close-up of your little one. Night vision gives a clear view of baby, day and night, while the room temperature sensor ensures the nursery is always comfortable.

Another feature parents appreciate: two-way talk lets you talk to and hear baby. Calm and soothe with preloaded lullabies and even create your own recording through the app.

12 Questions
Can these cameras be used in separate households or do they have to be on same network?

The Motorola VM85 Connect allows monitoring cameras in different households through the Motorola Nursery app over Wi-Fi, while the parent unit requires all cameras to be on the same local network.

does it record?

The Connect models can be paired to an app on your phone, and you can record video (ut you'll have to record is manually). On their own, the devices will only record short clips of "events" - when movement or sounds are detected.

Does it alert me the baby is making noise?

Yes, this monitor has an LED sound level indicator.

what is the differnce between this and the other motorla connect monitors?

The VM85 Connect strikes a balance between price, screen size, and advanced features like remote pan, tilt, and zoom, while providing dual connectivity via the parent unit and the Hubble app. Higher-end models may offer more sophisticated features, while more budget-friendly models may have fewer capabilities.

Is the app completely free or is there a subscription that needs to be paid in order to access certain things, like the temperature for instance?

The Motorola VM85 Connect app is free and includes room temperature monitoring with alerts. Some extra features may require a subscription.

Do you have to be connected to same WiFi to view on your phone, or could I view on my phone while not within the 1,000 ft range?

You don't have to use to the same WiFi connection to view on your phone. If you're outside the 1,000-ft range, just install the app and make sure to connect the baby unit to a WiFi network.

Can I purchase an additional monitor for another baby?

You can't buy an additional monitor (parent unit) but you can add an additional camera (baby unit). This offers a split screen feature so you can view two cameras/babies at once.

Can you see two cameras at once?

You can! You can use split-screen viewing.

Can it link to your phone?

It sure can! You'll need to install the app first and connect the baby unit to a WiFi network.

Does this item require wifi to work?

This monitor and parent unit can work with or without WIFI. In order to use the app or view the stream from any device, it will need to be connected to WIFI.

Tried for hours to get it set up. Only one camera works no matter what we do and cannot connect either monitor to phone despite having correct internet. Complete waste of money

Better options available
The one positive would be that it is convenient to have a baby monitor separate from your phone for multitasking, however, I would consider it poor video quality (likely similar to what my niece and nephew had 10 plus years ago) with quite a notable delay on the monitor and sound. Also I could not get the app to work. The energy to keep trying to like it was not worth the while.

Not Impressed
Doesn't seem to properly work. Only one of 2 cameras is connecting to the phone & monitor, the other one keeps disconnecting.
Very slow and on top of that looks like it is non-returnable.

Do not buy!
Terrible. The delay on the camera and the delay on the mobile app is enough for me to pass on this camera set. But just in case your aren’t convinced the signal also gets lost a lot and the picture quality is bad. Purchased a babysense and it’s like night and day. Don’t waste your money

We have only been using this for 12 weeks. The first camera stopped working consistently after 2 weeks (would not pair consistently to the monitor). Now the second camera is not pairing consistently. It can be fixed if you go mess with the camera, but that defeats the purpose of trying to not wake the baby.

Camera broke and Motorola customer support doesn’t exist
We are very unhappy with this product. We only used one of the cameras 4-5 times over our daughter’s first month, and it broke. The camera appears purple, upside down, and zoomed in 5-10x. We tried contacting Motorola customer support on two different websites, and one of the websites won’t let us submit a form. The phone number keeps hanging up on us as well and we can’t call anyone.

When the camera works it is slow, and has a lot of lag. It also turns on every time you plug it in to charge it which is annoying. If I had a working camera I could review it better.

Our daughter was born 4 months after we received this gift so we didn’t try to return it through Babylist.
