The Kindred Collection Peri 180 Rotating Infant Car Seat

I enjoyed using the Maxi-Cosi Peri 180° Rotating Infant Car Seat. I like how lightweight the car seat is and appreciate the rotating function for easily getting my baby in and out of the car. The rotating feature is a smart design because it is useful for making adjustments to my baby’s seat straps or doing a quick clean without having to take her out of the car seat since she can face me while I am standing at the car door. Also, I find it easier to not have to bend my arm or awkwardly clip in my rear facing baby since the seat rotates towards me. Installation was easy and the green indicator was helpful because I knew that I installed the seat accurately and safely. One feature that would be helpful is knowing which way to rotate the seat since it is a 180° turn. Also, it would be nice for the carseat to have seat belt inserts at the side so that I can rest the seatbelts when the car seat is not in use. This way, I won’t need to dig for the belt when putting my baby in the seat. I experienced some trouble with the seat belt tightening and loosening but after using the seat a few times, it became easier. Overall my favorite feature of the car seat is how light it is because as my baby continues growing it is tough to carry her in the car seat. I've been using the Maxi-Cosi Peri Rotating Infant seat from their Kindred collection. The most important aspects for me were safety, flame-retardant free and lightweight. This seat goes above and beyond for all of those thingsQ Safety: red/green indicator for install as well as step by step, numbered, east to read instructions on the base. There are only a few infant seats on the market that boast flame retardant free, and this is one of them! Lastly, not only is this seat lightweight, but the majority of the dead weight baby lifting in and out of the seat is compensated for by being able to rotate towards you. This came in handy immensely during the cold months, being able to move my infant easily and quickly from her warm seat into a baby carrier without having to lift her around. For many, that is a huge safety improvement, minimizing drop or injury potential. Facing baby also helps with proper harness fit, as does the non-rethread shoulder harness adjustment. From the moment we unboxed it, we were impressed by its sleek, modern design and high-quality, flame-retardant free materials. As I have sciatica, it has been a real life saver.

After using the Maxi-Cosi Peri™ 180° Rotating Infant Car Seat for a few days, I have a mix of positive impressions and some concerns.

First, I really appreciate the 180° rotation feature—it makes getting my little one in and out of the car so much easier. The magnetic chest clip is another standout feature, as it simplifies securing my baby without the usual hassle of traditional clips. One of my absolute favorite aspects of this car seat is the magnetic sun/bug cover, which is both convenient and practical for extra protection.

However, my biggest concern is the connection between the car seat and its base. Unlike other car seats I’ve used, this one seems to have a bit more movement when secured, which makes me question its overall stability. While it doesn’t feel unsafe, I expected a more solid, no-wiggle fit. I plan to check for other user experiences regarding this issue to see if it's a common concern.

Overall, the car seat offers great features and a stylish design, but I would love to see improvements in how securely it attaches to the base.

We received this infant item to review from Stellar Product Testing Panel. We didn’t love it, but it certainly has some features worth boasting. First, it was VERY simple to install. It was so simple, that we even managed to get it installed in just a few minutes before leaving for our work day. The red/green install guide in the base was helpful and made the installation so easy to understand. Aside from the infant insert (which feels cheap and flimsy), the car seat itself was also easy to use. The straps were pliable without feeling weak, and our FAVORITE part was the magnetic buckle system on the harness. That part is soo cool! We would not have missed the rotating feature if we didn’t have it. I could not get comfortable using it, it felt like an answer to a problem that didn’t exist for me. Also, transitioning the car seat to and from the base was often tricky for me. The best way I found to attach car seat to the base was to align the bottom/foot rest portion of the seat to the attach point on the base and glide the seat into its locking position - but, I also had to first ensure that the base was locked into its standard rear-facing position because if I didn’t, the base would swivel and rotate around underneath the car seat as I would try to set it into position on the base. That part was the most frustrating. I was able to remember to first make sure the base was locked into rear facing before proceeding with placement of the car seat on the base, but, to me, the fact that I needed to re-align the base from the rotated position before locking car seat in made the rotating feature feel pointless. I wanted to be able to put my car seat down and then be able to rotate the whole unit into safe rear-facing position with free hands instead of taking a second to first move the base to rear-facing with one hand while holding the car seat w the other. And, maybe that’s possible, if so, I just don’t have that finesse. Also, as for the car seat handle - I do not appreciate that I have to press button on both sides at the handle joints to maneuver the handle. That’s definitely one of my least favorite parts of this product. I want to be able to press one button with one hand to move the handle of a car seat, and that’s not the case with this one. I promise, I truly did want to love this. The magnet buckle is pretty cool, though!

I love to try out new baby products and was so happy to receive this infant car seat from the Stellar Product Testing Panel in exchange for a review. I was not impressed with this car seat’s quality and feel at first, but while using it, some of the features really won me over. At the end of the day, there are still a few aspects that I would like to see in higher quality or better designed, but if you want a classy looking rotating infant seat with convenient installation, this seat will do it for you.
First, I didn’t like the main body of fabric at all; it feels like a cheap plastic fabric. The mesh border also looks and feels cheap. The head rest and canopy better reflect the price with a cotton feel and a quilted look. The canopy is a little over done with one type of fabric on the exterior and another fabric on the interior. Another pretty big gripe I had right out of the box was the total lack of metal. Every detail that looks metal is just painted to look like metal. It keeps the seat light I am sure, but I thought the handle at least would be metal. The only metal on this seat is strictly for safety and not visible. The seatbelt was thinner than my other car seats and the bottom buckle part is plastic with metal support where all the other car seats I own all have a metal buckle. The magnetic clip is very fun to use but makes the seatbelt sit closer together than a normal clip and it really doesn’t take any less time to clip. For a car seat this price I want to see higher quality materials.
Even though it doesn’t feel like a top-of-the-line seat it functions top-of-the-line. Even with the few negatives on in quality, the performance of the seat won me over in a few regards. The first thing was the install. Most infant seat bases are easy to install, but as a parent you still question if it’s secure or not. The red/green install tightness indicator was AMAZING! This is the first time I have seen something like this on a car seat, and all I want to know is why this is not standard on all car seats. It really is a game changer for install and I highly recommend this seat if you want to be confident on your install. Next, the 180 turn is also amazing. When I left the seat in the car it made it so easy to take the baby out of the seat. When taking the whole seat out, I am not sure it made it easier to put the whole seat and child back in, but it definitely made it more fun. The 180 turn feature really shined for us in a way that most people don’t know about. We have a full-size SUV and four kids. Our car has a car seat-friendly tilt function and this 180 seat means we can take the baby out and with the car seat already sideways, tilt the seat forward so the kids in the back can get out. This really streamlines car exits. We did however have to use it without the load leg to do this. I don’t love the idea of not using the load leg, but it is acceptable. Another very convenient function is the no-rethread harness which makes it very easy to quickly adjust the seat belt height for a fast-growing baby. The seat is also very light and easy to carry which I did love. One gripe I had with the function was taking the seat in and out of the car is not as streamlined as I would like for two reasons. The base makes the seat sit higher up than a normal base and the car seat handle is a little higher of an arch than I am used to. Those two factors caused the handle to hit the top of the car door opening when removing the seat from the car. Also, the seat slides onto a narrow plastic strip and clips onto a metal bar which makes putting the car seat back into the car a little finicky but not a huge deal. One more thing to note is that the seat is on the smaller side.  My baby is a chunky 20 pounds at 6 months and he really fills the whole thing up.
In conclusion, it gets the job done and has some really convenient functions. I would recommend it for the 180 feature and base install confidence (green indicator).

The first time we used this car seat, I said to my husband, “This really feels like a luxury car seat.” It feels sturdy, comfortable, and like it’s made with high-quality materials. It was very easy to install! The car seat we used previously had a bubble indicator to show if it was installed correctly, but I was always confused on if the bubble had to be in a certain place. With this car seat, there’s a simple red/green indicator to show it’s installed right - no guessing game and so much easier!

The seat took just a few minutes to install and we were ready to go. Getting my 4 month old in the car seat is SO much easier with the rotating seat - honestly this should be the standard for all car seats! It’s a breeze to get him settled and buckled and then just rotate the car seat back to a rear facing position. This is definitely my favorite feature of the car seat, it seriously is so much more convenient loading baby in when they’re facing you. The seat rotates both ways too which is really nice. And the magnetic clip means it takes just seconds (literally!) to lock baby in.

My baby is in the 99th percentile for height, so the fact that this car seat had a no-rethread harness is awesome! Trying to rethread a harness and guess what height would be best for him is such a pain. With this car seat you simply move the headrest to the desired position. No fussing with a car seat cover or getting the harness through those small slits in the back - this is a game changer. However the grey headpiece that has the harness slots is not attached to anything - it’s just a loose headpiece. This makes it easy to move but difficult to keep in place while you’re trying to get baby in. I wish it had Velcro or something on the back to keep it in place, but it’s definitely not a dealbreaker.

The only difficulty I had with this car seat was getting it in and out of the base the first few times. You have to get the angle right and kind of get in in and out from the top down. It was just a learning curve for me since I was used to pulling our old one straight up. Once I got the hang of it after getting it out once or twice, it was no longer an issue!

Overall, I really love this car seat. Again, it really feels like a luxury item. I love knowing it’s installed correctly without playing any guessing games and the fact that you can adjust the harness by just moving the headrest is awesome. This is a great car seat! I was impressed right when I opened it - the packaging is made of sturdy, quality materials, as is the car seat itself. The base is a bit heavy and wide, but the car seat itself is lightweight and has really nice fabric on the seat parts and hood. I tested the weight against my other infant car seat, and the Peri was lighter.

The Peri has unique buckles that are magnetic at the chest, and they were easy to buckle my baby into. I felt very safe putting my son in this carseat, and he seemed very comfortable. The seat and base were easy to install, and the 180 rotation was a huge quality of life improvement over our prior carseat that did not rotate!

I feel that this car seat is a really good value and it definitely lives up to my brand expectation of Maxi-Cosi. It looks much more high end than I expected and has the features that really matter to me, like easy of use, security, and the seat not being heavy.

One thing to note about this carseat is that the base is on the wider side - if you have a very compact car or a narrow middle seat, you may only be able to install the seat on the left or right side vs. the middle.

I will start by giving a huge thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with the opportunity to test this infant car seat. While testing the Maxi-Cosi Peri™ 180° Rotating Infant Car Seat, our child was given the chance to experience a different seat that offered a huge increase in comfortability, safety and style from his original car seat.

The Good -

At first glance, this car seat is made of high quality materials and offers a variety of quality options. When first unboxing the seat you can tell that this car seat is constructed with the highest quality materials and the small details that it includes are impeccable. My other infant car seat didn't include shoulder strap cushions, whereas this one came with extremely cozy cushions and the newborn insert is extremely comfortable. Installation was fairly easy as there are a few different options for install, such as the seat anchors or seat belt strapping (with a QR scannable code that provides a detailed video of installation). For peace of mind, this seat has many safety features, such as: correct install indicator, correct slope indicator and safe latch indicator. The Maxi Cosi also featured a magnetic chest clip and no-rethread harness that made getting our child in/out much easier and much more simple. The seat is super plush, with a reclinable feature and has an extendable canopy, great for keeping the sun away from our child's face.

The Bad -

The only negative that I could think of is: the fact that this seat only rotates 180 degrees, which limits the child to rear facing. Thus, making the seat only usable for a couple of months and you will be forced to purchase another seat to accommodate your child as they grow.

Overall, this car seat showed us that our original car seat wasn't nearly as great as we thought and as first time parents we would highly recommend anyone looking for an infant car seat. The safety features, comfortablity, and high quality materials; make for an excellent choice in protecting your children within the car. We were so impressed with this seat that we will be upgrading to the larger model as soon as our son outgrows this one!

First of all - this car seat is gorgeous! I immediately fell in love with the lux fabric. From the quilted detailing to the super soft cushion insert, it has such a high quality look and feel!
I also love how easy it is to carry, amazingly light weight and comfortable to lift and hold. It’s compact and doesn’t take up much space in the car, which is a huge win as space is now at a premium after having our second baby recently! The buckle is extremely easy and convenient, and the rotation capability is a game changer! Totally saves our backs as parents! My little girl is very comfortable in the seat as a newborn and easily falls asleep in it. I really have only good things to say about this Maxi-Cosi rotating infant seat, I highly recommend it!
