Overview

Description

Designed for urban living, the Origami Mini Crib has a petite profile and built in versatility. Locking casters on the feet allow this little guy to roll easily throughout your home. And as the name suggests, the mini crib also folds for storage or transportation.

All-wood slat construction means the crib is durable and relatively lightweight, too. The size is in between a bassinet and a standard crib: it will outlast a bassinet, but may not get you as far as a crib.

This crib is similar to the Gelato from Babyletto. The two differences? The Gelato can convert to a twin bed and the Origami has locking casters, so you have to tradeoff between growing with baby and moving from room to room.

babyletto is committed to environmental safety and sustainability; the Origami Mini Crib is made with eco-friendly, non-toxic materials backed with Greenguard Gold certification, which means it’s been screened for 360 VOCs and 10,000+ chemicals.

What we love about it

A rolling, folding mini crib that's a smart and stylish alternative to a bassinet.

Mattress?

The Origami is a standard mini size crib which includes a 1” mattress pad; they recommend the Pure by babyletto, hypoallergenic and eco-conscious mini crib mattress (37” x 23.5”)

Is the mattress pad waterproof?

The 1" mattress pad is waterproof.

What is the maximum weight this crib can hold?

This crib can support up to 45 lbs.

Will this crib fit the Newton Baby Breathable Mini Crib Mattress?

It will! You can use this crib with the Breathable Mini Crib Mattress from Newton Baby.

Does the mattress sit low? Or is it adjustable?

This crib features a low-profile design for a modern look and 2 adjustable mattress positions to adapt to your baby's growth stages.

Does it come with a mattress or mattress pad?

This comes with a 1” mattress pad, but does not include a mattress.

Can the natural one be stained?

While it's technically possible to stain the Washed Natural crib, it's important to keep in mind that all the paints and stains used by Babyletto have been tested for safety. If you choose to use a different paint or stain, it may not have undergone the same testing. Also, altering the product in this way would void your warranty.

This claims to fit a US mini crib mattress, but only up to 37" when all mini crib mattresses are 38". Is this a misprint, or will a normal mini crib mattress be too large?

The crib will fit the standard 38" mini crib mattresses.

How many inches is it from the upper mattress setting to the top of the crib? (The higher of the two settings, the lower being if it was near the bottom).

The top of the mattress support in the highest position to the floor is 14.25 inches. The total crib height is 35.75 inches, meaning about 21.5 inches from the top of the support in bassinet mode, to the top railing of the crib. The height your baby will be at will depend on how thick of a mattress you choose.

Good but would be better if it had a higher level
The crib is great. The wheels don’t turn very easily and sometimes scrape on the floor instead of turning, but the wheels eventually spin as you push the crib. My husband added an additional piece of wood for raising the mattress to bassinet height, which I very much recommend. My first baby outgrew the bassinet at two months and had to go in the big crib in her own room rather young, so having a mini crib modified to bassinet depth is going to work better for this baby that will also be a long baby. Bassinet depth is also comfortable for diaper changes in the crib. I also liked bringing the bassinet throughout the house throughout the day with my first baby, and I can do the same thing with this mini crib. Where we got the crib, it came with a 1” thick pad instead of a thick mattress. The pad is super crinkly and the crinkle noise wakes the baby up.

Great mini crib
If you must do a mini crib, this is a great one. Easy to build and wonderful to move around. The caveat is I do wish we just got a second full size crib because my 4 month old keeps hitting the sides with her hands and rolling into the sides, which wakes her.

Sage Green Babyletto Mini Crib
I really like the size of the Babyletto mini crib, and I love the sage green color. My husband was able to put it together will very little support from me. But the crib did arrive with several small chips in the pain. I used the warranty to get a pain pen to touch up the chips. The paint pen does not work well and that’s disappointing.

Cheaply made
Our home burned down and we are living in a small space, this seemed perfect. This crib is cheaply made, I reached out to Newton and received no response. I used the crib as intended and the wheel snapped on the leg of the crib. Waste of money.

My 2.5 month old daughter
My 2.5 month old daughter outgrew her bassinet but because she was still so young and because our bedrooms were on different levels we needed an option to keep her in our room for several additional months. I researched the longest possible bassinets but felt like I needed something more comfortable, permanent, and bigger given how quickly she outgrew her bassinet. I was very excited when i found the Origami mini crib. I liked that there was a true mattress available to purchase (even though everyone says babies are fine sleeping on thin/flimsy bassinet pads), the clean aesthetic, compact dimensions without sacrificing how much use we could get out of it, and the price. It shipped quickly, was easy to put together and our daughter seems very happy when sleeping in it. I do recommend purchasing the corresponding mattress because the mattress that comes with the crib is super thin and more of a pad than a mattress. For the next baby, I’ll ditch the bassinet and use this crib from the start!

Gorgeous!
This crib is gorgeous! Everyone who comes in remarks on how pretty it is, especially the color. I didn't put it together, but my husband and dad did and said it was pretty easy. It is also relatively easy to fold up flat, although luckily we found a good spot in our apartment where it can stay placed so we don't need to fold it up much.

Finally got it right
After a month and half, Babyletto (vendor) finally replaced the damaged part after sending me the wrong part. Babyletto needs to increase their quality control process because the damaged crib should never have left their facility to be sold by Newton. Newton helped but it was not an easy process.

Portable and comfortable - just what we needed
Perfect size, collapsible and very comfortable for our 7 week old baby. Sleep very much improved once we started using on account of the nice mattress we think! Love having something on wheels. A great buy we are very happy with.

Beautiful Mini Crib with Useless Folding Feature
I thought this crib was going to be easy to store and registered for it as we currently live in a small place. However, you have to unscrew the base board before you fold it. So, we’ve NEVER folded this thing. I don’t really get why it’s an option unless you want to store it away once in a blue moon. I guess you could easily store it in the time between babies? Even though we didn’t really get the feature I first wanted, the crib is still great quality, was easy enough to put together and has a great finish. Just know this isn’t like a space saver- aside from being a mini crib.
