Created with newborns in mind, BabyBjorn’s Baby Carrier Mini Mesh is a smaller, more lightweight update to their Original Carrier, and it’s geared to the needs of new babies and parents. Use the carrier to keep your hands free while you satisfy your baby’s need for closeness. It’s designed to carry your baby high on your chest, so they can feel your heartbeat.
Unlike some other carriers and slings, the Mini is very easy to use, with just a few adjustable buckles. You can get it on quickly to comfort your little one, which makes a big difference in those newborn weeks. And unlike BabyBjorn’s other carriers, with the Mini you can unfasten the entire front section to transfer your sleeping baby directly to their bed.
The Baby Carrier Mini is made with a lightweight mesh that’s soft to the touch and fosters physical connection. The carrier gently hugs your newborn’s back, legs and hips to provide support in a comfortable ergonomic position. You can feel your baby’s body well through the fabric, so you can check their position and the natural C-curve of spine with you hands. The carrier has adjustable head and neck support as well. The small size and lightweight fabric means that this carrier folds up small enough to pack in your diaper bag or stroller basket. Prefer a different fabric? The Babybjörn Baby Carrier Mini is also available in 100% cotton and 3D jersey.
Your baby should ride facing in for the first few months, but at five months, you can also choose a face-out position. The Baby Carrier Mini is safe to use with babies up to 12 months old and 24 pounds, so once your baby reaches those limits, you can transition to the Bjorn Harmony Carrier, which can be used up to 36 months.

Q&A
It's actually better to use all carriers, regardless of brand, under the coat. Using the carrier over the coat will affect the fit of the carrier, potentially making it less secure for you and your little one. If you're sizzping up with the carrier inside, just keep in mind overheating. Count your coat as a layer for your little one.

We would have no problem recommending Baby Bjorn to any prospective parent (and quite often do so!!)
My son is about 3 months old and maybe 15 lbs? We'll probably transition him to the Ergobaby soon since this one isn't as ergonomic... but I love how soft and easy the baby bjorn mini is!
It's easy to use by myself and easy to re-adjust after my husband wears it. And far less confusing than trying the big fabric wrap carriers.
Not sure why someone commented that it's too big for newborns? It's perfect for newborns! Our babe was 21" and 7 lbs and he was in this carrier within the first few days of his life! Only con in that the grey 3D jersey fabric has pilled, but it's the least of my concerns.
