The Best Wipe Warmers for Babies Who Have No Chill
The Best Wipe Warmers for Babies Who Have No Chill

Wipe warmers fall into the “nice to have” category of baby items; while not a must-have for all families, they can help take the shock out of a cold wipe and make diaper changes more comfortable for little ones. (And more pleasant for parents.)

Wipe warmers do exactly what their name implies, warming wipes up to a comfortable temperature to clean a baby’s bottom without (hopefully) all the fuss. The best wipe warmers are easy to use and clean, maintain a consistent temperature, keep wipes moist and mold-free and some even double as a nightlight.

To help parents figure out which wipe warmer is right for them, we put six highly rated wipe warmers to the test to find out which ones perform the best. Our top pick, the Momcozy Baby Wipe Warmer, is incredibly user-friendly with multiple temperature settings and nightlight modes for convenience, plus the ability to warm wipes in their original packaging in case you need to just grab and go. We’ve also included three other solid options, including a reliable budget-friendly pick and a cool, high-tech, touch-free wipe warmer for my fellow germaphobes.

  • Firsthand professional and personal experience. I’m a professional product reviewer and mom of three little ones, including a toddler still in diapers. I’ve used and reviewed many wipe warmers over the past eight years and personally tested six bestselling models for this guide, noting how each performed in terms of temperature consistency, ease of use and overall effectiveness.

  • Wipe warmer data. At Babylist, we regularly analyze which baby products users are adding to their baby registries the most (and which ones they aren’t) and what the team of Merchandising experts—buyers who are responsible for ensuring the Babylist Shop is stocked with the best and newest gear—is excited about. Studying this kind of data helped us determine which products to test and the best wipe warmers for new and expecting parents.

  • Feedback and reviews. We reviewed comments and feedback from Babylist’s annual product survey of thousands of parents, read customer reviews from hundreds of Babylist users and spoke to parents on staff about their real-life product experiences.

How We Judged the Best Wipe Warmers

Warmth and temperature consistency
A good wipe warmer warms wipes to the perfect temperature, not too hot or cold, without drying them out. I assessed factors like warming speed, effectiveness, temperature consistency and even heat distribution across the wipe pack.
Ease of use
Wipe warmers should make diaper changes easier, not complicate things. I tested for overall ease of use, noting factors like how intuitive the controls were, how simple it was to load and remove wipes and how easy it was to operate one-handed.
Capacity
I prioritized wipe warmers that were big enough to fit a full pack of wipes but not overly large or bulky.
Special features
I focused on features that enhance convenience for parents and caregivers, like a built-in nightlight, multiple temperature settings and touch-free technology.

Best Wipe Warmer Overall

Momcozy Baby Wipe Warmer

From $39.99

Pros

  • Multiple temperature settings
  • Adjustable nightlight
  • Can warm wipes in their original packaging
  • Removable spring to warm fewer wipes faster

Cons

  • Doesn’t fit value packs
  • Wipes take several hours to warm up when in original packaging

So easy to use and the most compact of any model I tested, the Momcozy warmer tops our list for best wipe warmer. It’s the only model I tested where you don’t have to take the wipes out of the packaging before putting them in the warmer; just cut the seal or lid and pop in the pack as-is, no unwrapping necessary. While it does take more time to heat the wipes in their original container (a couple of hours versus about 10-15 minutes if you remove the wipes from the package), this feature was something I appreciated as a tired, busy mom.

The Momcozy features four different temperature settings to suit your comfort level and your baby’s, ensuring wipes are still toasty by the time they actually touch your baby’s bottom. I favored the highest setting for extra warmth; however, if you're just looking to take the chill off a wipe without getting your baby or toddler too accustomed to it (since a warmer isn't portable), I'd recommend choosing one of the lower two temperature settings. I also liked the adjustable nightlight. With three brightness levels, the lowest level is quite soft and the highest gives plenty of light to clean a messy bottom thoroughly.

The Momcozy also includes a removable spring, a feature unique to this model only. You can add it to the bottom of the wipe warmer when you’re running low to push the remaining wipes up to the top so they warm faster and are easier to access—something I did numerous times.

The warmer fits a standard pack of wipes, so if you like to purchase value packs, just note you’ll probably need to remove them from the container to load as they won’t fit in the warmer while still packaged.

Best Affordable Wipe Warmer

Jool Baby TinyBums Baby Wipe Warmer & Dispenser with LED Changing Light - White

From $29.99

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Simple, straightforward design
  • Easy to operate one-handed
  • Built-in nightlight

Cons

  • Wipes sometimes rip or come out two at a time

If you're considering a wipe warmer but aren’t sure it’s necessary (and don’t want to spend a lot of money on something you’re not sure about), the Jool Baby TinyBums Wipe Warmer is worth trying. At only $30, it’s simple, affordable and works just as well as high-end brands, warming wipes fast and evenly. Unlike the other models I tested, the Jool Baby features a power button so you can shut it off without having to unplug the entire thing when you won’t be using it for a stretch of time, like overnight if you have an older toddler (🙋🏼‍♀️) or if you go away for a few days. This helps keep the wipes fresher for longer and prevents drying out.

I also really appreciate that I can operate this wipe warmer with one hand, even to add more wipes, which is convenient when I’m mid-diaper change or my Velcro baby refuses to be put down. The top features a sliding lock to keep curious hands out, and the lid opens with a simple push of a button. There’s also a clear window in the front so I can see when I’m almost out of wipes and need to restock.

For anyone who appreciates a simple and straightforward setup, the Jool Baby couldn’t be easier. The directions are short and to the point, without extra steps to remember, like pouring in a half a cup of water each time you reload wipes or saturating a little pillow, requirements of some of the other wipe warmers I tested.

A built-in LED nightlight is an added bonus for late-night breastfeeding sessions, diaper blowouts and changes in those early days. You may want to experiment with wipe brands, though, as some reviewers (myself included) at times experienced issues with wipes getting stuck, tearing or being tough to pull out one at a time. (I used Huggies wipes for testing.)

Additional Specs

  • Size: ‎9.59” x 6.75” x 4.92”

  • Capacity: 50-80 wipes

  • Heating source: Top-down

  • Special features: Power button, LED nightlight

Best Hands-Free Wipe Warmer

Munchkin Touch Free Baby Wipe Warmer with Nightlight

From $46.97

Pros

  • Convenient, touch-free technology
  • Automatic nightlight with two levels of brightness
  • Warms wipes quickly and evenly

Cons

  • Slightly more expensive

Once you go hands-free, you’ll never go back (at least I won’t!). For germaphobes like me, this touch-free wipe warmer from Munchkin is more than just a luxury—it’s a must. A quick wave of the hand opens the warmer, making messy diaper changes a little less gross (and daunting) and much more sanitary and convenient. It’s especially ideal for poop diapers when I need to get a bunch of wipes out fast while simultaneously preventing my toddler from wiggling around and getting poop everywhere. The lid automatically closes after five seconds, keeping the warmer clean even when my hands aren’t.

There’s a nightlight that automatically turns on when the lid opens, which is helpful during late-night blowouts or when you just need a bit of light to grab something from the nursery. The light adjusts easily from bright to dim or turns off completely. It also shuts off automatically after 15 minutes, a convenient perk.

Most importantly, this wipe warmer performed great during testing, warming wipes to a comfortable temperature within 20 minutes. While I found that it keeps wipes fairly moist without adding water, the brand does recommend pouring up to a half cup of water directly on your wipes if you notice them drying out.

Additional Specs

  • Size: 9.92” x 7.24: x 5.12”

  • Capacity: 100 wipes

  • Heating source: Top-down

  • Special features: Touch-free lid, automatic night light with two levels of brightness

Best Large Capacity Wipe Warmer

Munchkin Warm Glow Wipe Warmer

From $29.97

Buy

Pros

  • Large capacity, fits 100 wipes
  • Can hold some oversized and adult wipes
  • Nightlight with auto shut-off feature
  • Viewing window

Cons

  • Per Munchkin, may need to add water to wipes to prevent drying
  • Bright power light doesn’t turn off

If you have a couple of kids in diapers or just don't want to constantly refill your wipe warmer, the Munchkin Warm Glow Wipe Warmer is a good choice. It can hold up to 100 wipes, more than most other wipe warmer models I tested which hold a standard pack of 56-80 wipes. It’s also big enough to hold larger wipes.

The warmer took about 20 minutes to warm wipes to a pleasant room temperature and wipes were easy to pull out one at a time without ripping, tearing or constantly having to rethread them. The viewing window on the front is convenient for stock checks, and the warmer features a nightlight that automatically shuts off after 10 minutes. But the light is really bright and can’t be disabled without powering off the whole unit—a definite downside of this warmer for me and one that other users also noted.

Like their touch-free warmer, Munchkin also recommends pouring a half cup of water over the wipes to keep them moist, adding an extra step to your refill routine. If you want to skip this step, Huff says, “you can try putting fewer wipes in the warmer so the ones at the bottom don’t dry out before you get to them.”

Additional Specs

  • Size: 7.25” x 5” x 10”

  • Capacity: 100 wipes

  • Heating source: Top-down

  • Special features: Nightlight with auto shut-off

How to Choose a Wipe Warmer

Choosing the best wipe warmer isn't nearly as complicated as researching other types of baby gear, like a stroller or a car seat. Here's what to consider:

  • Size and capacity: Is it big enough to fit a full pack of your preferred wipes and compact enough for your changing station?

  • Type of heating system: Does it heat from the top down or bottom up? All the wipe warmers on our list are top-down models, which performed the best during testing. However, some parents may prefer a bottom-up style, as "a warmer that heats from the bottom can prevent the wipes from drying out as quickly," according to Huff. Note: these types of warmers may take considerably longer to get top wipes toasty. Top-down warmers are ideal for parents who prioritize warm wipes fast.

  • Features: Consider whether you want a basic model or a wipe warmer with all the bells and whistles. Features like a motion-sensor lid and lid locks that you can operate one-handed are extra handy when juggling a fussy baby. A nightlight for nighttime diaper changes and the ability to adjust the temperature are nice, too. I especially love a clear window to check the wipe count so you never run out of warm wipes.

  • Ease of use: Can you quickly load and grab wipes? Is it simple to use and operate? A straightforward, practical design will ensure your wipe warmer actually gets used.

  • Budget: Fortunately, even the most expensive wipe warmers won’t set you back a ton of money. Consider whether you want a fancy wipe warmer with extra features or a no-frills option that gets the job done.

Wipe Warmer Cleaning and Maintenance Tips

Any time you're storing an open package of wipes, whether it's in a wipe warmer, a wipes dispenser or even in your diaper bag, there's a risk for mold or bacteria growth. Always take a quick peek at your wipes to be sure they're in good condition before you use them for your baby. Follow any directions specific to your wipe warmer, but keep these general wipe warmer maintenance tips in mind, too:

  • Keep the lid closed. “Be sure to keep the wipe warmer lid closed throughout the day to prevent wipes from drying out and exposing them to air or bacteria,” advises Walker. To preserve your wipes, unplug or turn off the warmer if not in use for an extended period.

  • Remoisten if needed. Some models recommend pouring up to a half cup of water directly on the wipes to prevent drying and/or to remoisten them if they’ve already become dry. Start with small amounts, just enough to dampen them, and always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

  • Keep the warmer clean. Clean your wipe warmer regularly with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. If approved by the manufacturer, use a mild soap solution to clean the interior of the warmer. Huff also recommends wiping it down with vinegar if buildup starts to occur. And remember to unplug the warmer before cleaning or replacing any parts.

  • Let it dry. To prevent mold or mildew, “let your warmer dry out completely between wipe restocks,” recommends Huff.

  • Replace the parts. If your wipe warmer uses any type of sponge or pad, be sure to replace it according to the directions (usually every few months or so) to prevent mold or bacteria growth.
